It is very early in the morning and the sky is dimly light by very small rays of sunlight emerging over the horizon. Birds sing cheerfully as they fly overhead as if heralding the beginning of a new day on Hallows Lane. Hallows Lane is a suburban dwelling just like any other. On each side of the street are beautiful houses arranged side by side but separated from one another by white picket fences which surround each. In one of the houses, a brown haired woman in a black suit wearing high heeled shoes and carrying a black colored purse at her elbow, stands at the foot of the staircase with one hand on her waist and the other holding a half filled cup of coffee. She has an annoyed expression on her face.

“Get down here!” Mrs. Anita Living screamed with a volume so loud that it scared the birds out of the tree in the backyard of her beautiful home. Her facial expression at the time was just as scary as her voice. She was in a hurry to get to the bank where she works and has worked for 5 years and counting. She was already suited up and her briefcase was already in her car. She only had to make sure her son had left for school.

“Coming.” said a voice from up the stairs. Her son Alex Living knew he had to hurry. He had already gotten dressed in a blue long sleeved shirt and black skinny jeans, and was standing in front of the bathroom mirror styling his hair. Finally getting his black hair the way he liked it, he winked, flashed a smile at his reflection and scampered down the stairs to see his mother already tapping her high heels in annoyance.

“You’re gonna be late.” she said in a stern voice as he came down the stairs.

“Mom, its 6:30, school starts by 8 and its just 20 minutes from here.” he retorted, getting annoyed himself.

“Yes, but I have to leave last so that I can make sure the place is locked since you have repeatedly left the front door open when going to school. Also, take this.” she said and handed him a few bills from her black purse.
He grinned as he took the money from her. “Thanks. Dad returns today, right?” He asked curiously while taking a seat at the kitchen table to eat his breakfast.

“Yes, he does and it’s about time too.” she replied then she drank the last of the coffee in her cup and dropped it on the sink.

“Yeah, six weeks away on business is a tad too much. Though there are some perks.” Alex said while chewing a bite of the toast his Mom prepared for breakfast.

“Like what?” his mother asked.

“Well, I don’t have to spend my weekends fishing with him.”

“I thought you liked fishing?”

“Yeah. Sitting around at 5 in the morning holding a fishing pole and never catching anything…Fun.” said Alex with a sarcastic tone before he finally swallowed the food in his mouth.

Anita started, “Well, just because you’re no good at..”

“No, no I’m great,” Alex cut her off and continued, “the fish just don’t like me much.” He finished his breakfast and walked out of the kitchen heading towards the front door. “I’m off to school to…hang out with myself I guess, until all the other kids arrive. Have fun at work.” he said with a sarcastic tone as he left the house.

“Read a book or something.” she hollered.

Elsewhere, a good distance from that house stood two men dressed in flowing white robes with small black flaming designs along the edges of their sleeves and black shoes. The taller one having short dark brown hair and blood red irises while the shorter one having spiky unkempt black hair and eyes totally white in color. They are both watching Alex as he walks to school.

“Should we collect him now, Will?” said the brown haired man to the other.

“No, Chad,” replied the man with black hair “I’ve never been to this plane of existence before. Let’s look around for a while. It’s our first time in this world after all.” In a white flash of light both individuals disappear.

SEVERAL HOURS PASS

Alex is in class bent over his table, his attention completely on the piece of paper on his desk as he continues to scribble numbers and letters on it, only stopping to press some buttons on his calculator every once in a while. Most of the students in the class are doing the same thing, as to be expected during what was reputed as the most difficult test in the whole semester. The school was already closed for the day and the students had all left save the freshmen who are being forced to take the grueling test after normal school hours. A white haired man with a stoic expression on his wrinkled face, dressed in a black suit is seated at a desk in front of the class watching the students intently as if trying to see right through them. Mr. Earl Barnes, the Math teacher, had always been that way. He was once voted by the whole student body as the Worst Man Alive. This was because there was no teacher stricter than him. He had no mercy and lacked any sense of humor such that the students believed he was a robot or maybe a moving statue. They hated him and he seemed to detest them as well.

“That was easy.” said Alex Living as he walked up to Mr. Barnes to turn in his test.

“I see. Well, get out of here.” replied Mr. Barnes, not even bothering to look at the young man. He kept his focus on the seated students.

“A-sshole.” Alex remarked under his breath as dropped the sheet of paper on the desk and walked out of the class with an annoyed facial expression.

“What was that?!” Mr. Barnes retorted.

“I said ‘Thank you’” answered Alex as he walked out of the class, his facial expression changed as a smile is now visible on his face. The sound of giggling can be heard through the class.

Alex makes his way to his locker, walking through the empty hallway to get to it. He was the only student who had finished at the time. He opens it by turning the dial on it and takes out an iPod with earphones plugged into it. After placing the earphones in his ear and selecting a song on the iPod, the black haired student starts heading home.

The two mysterious characters from early this morning are seated on the roof of Dawn High School watching the young man as he walks home. They are dressed differently this time. The brown haired one sports a red short sleeved shirt with a V-neck, black pants and black shoes while the other wears a white long sleeved shirt with nearly all the buttons opened, revealing a white vest underneath the shirt. He also dons white pants with white shoes having black soles. “Will,” started the brown haired man, “while I did have fun in this world, I think we’d better get a move on. Chances are that hunters are on their way here for Alex or worse, maybe even the Shikome.”

“You’re right. We’ll get him at home. We should at least give him a chance to say goodbye.” said the black haired man. In a white flash of light both individuals disappear.

If it sucks, well, I'm not very good with this style. :shy:
