I said this in another topic, but since most support characters that get developed are connected to the main, that's why Tenten is sort of left out. We have Hinata developing her character and she is the supposed love interest for Naruto, then we have Ino who is the heroine Sakura's best friend who helped develop Sakura into what she is. Tenten was there for Neji (who in turn was connected to Hinata's growth) and helped develop him, but now he's dead.

Yes, if she did nothing then Naruto would be in trouble right now. She's been healing him the whole time, since the last chapter, while giving that speech. If not for her, Naruto wouldn't be fully recovered and she needed him protected and now Minato's showed up to help.
