Your reasonable, western view of how plot works is justified. However, don't forget that Kishi is Japanese, and the Japs just don't have any ****ing idea on how to balance a story... which is ironic because their culture is all about balance.

Characters can go 1 vs 1000 just because they are "legendary", main characters can never suffer any defeat, and Naruto will be like this in a few more chapters:

Actually Naruto is at that point now, if you consider his stages of Kurama similar to SSJ. It would be like Kyuubi cloak SSJ1, Kyuubi mode SSJ2 and Beast mode SSJ3. Either way, Naruto can't logically get much stronger and I feel that Kishi actually is alluding to downgrades in the near future because of the fact that Obito is now defeated.

Considering how powerful he was, one cannot really hope to ascend to that power again, giving me the inclination that Kishi might be considering turning over a whole new leaf in future arcs.

Just because you read shit doesn't mean that all Japanese mangakas don't know how to create a proper, balanced story.
Kishimoto is just a bad writer, he's only good at parallels and foreshadowing, and Dragonball Z is 20 years old.

The mangas I read I see the main characters getting beat, and horrible.

There is a long standing tradition that they will at some point have to fight in a diminished state that will ultimately be revealed to not be a weakness at all. Another previously unknown ability is used to compensate, much like the Matrix's Neo who looses his eyesight only to reveal his "third eye" ability to see and control things in the matrix from the real world.

What I disagree with however is the assumption that we don't have much left to reveal. There is still a lot of items left. Uchiha tablet inconsistencies. Why Orochimaru isn't interested in the war. How Madara unlocked his Rinnegan, etc etc.etc.

Disagreed.

It is completely obvious that Naruto and Sasuke will surpass Hashirama and Madara, and right now, they barely can hold a candle to either of them, even in their powered up state. Given this logic, it is okay to assume that Madara will succeed in controlling Hashirama and Hashirama will be turned against the alliance and forced to fight Naruto. Sasuke will fight Madara. In this subsequent moment, they will most likely be powered up more in some way (Naruto most likely will host the other Bijuu and POSSIBLY awaken the Rinnegan because of it as it was foretold by Rikudou himself that someone will guide them and they will know "True Power". Sasuke will surpass Madara's Susano'o and given the dichotomy of the Uchiha's in this manga, with more relevance, they gain the more haxxed technique, and Sasuke shall awaken such. Their is also the possibility of Juugo permanently giving Sasuke a Curse Mark and as such, his Enton techniques and all MS abilities will be enhanced. So don't be surprised if you're seeing an Enton Tsunami out of nowhere). This will solidify Naruto and Sasuke as number 1 and number 2 in the manga in terms of power, and the power scaling will stop there.

There are things yet revealed, but I'm hoping he will reveal more things that don't necessarily rely on villains like Oro and Madara. Btw, I doubt something like how Madara unlocked his Rinnegan will ever be revealed, but I'm excited for finding out Oro's real reason for attacking Konoha.

Disagreed.

Like I said, after Madara is defeated I expect downgrades. Sure they might get a little more OP beating Madara, but after that there will be no point in more power scaling, like you said.

However, I find it very unlikely that Naruto will awaken Rinnegan. Notice how Obtio's sharingan did not become Rinnegan while he commanded the Juubi. Contrary to what some thought (including me) before we found out about the sages mother, the Sage was most likely born with the Rinnegan because of the influence on his mother's DNA. It is highly unlikely that he unlocked it after controlling the Juubi for this reason, and why anyone other than an EMS user will unlock it now. The only logical one to possibly awaken the Rinnegan is Sasuke.
