Knock, knock, have you ever had questions about our lord and saviour Itachi?

I'm gonna tell you why he is awesome and teach you that he in fact was a good person.

First of all, who was Itachi?

You may have heard he slaughtered elderly people and killed innocent kids.

Lets go back to when he was a kid.

You may think, how unrealistic!? A kid can't be as smart as a leader of an entire village!?

But maybe it's symbolism for something else?

Maybe Itachi didn't have the IQ of Shikamaru or the experience of Hiruzen.

BUT he had certain traits that made him a very valuable person. For example, he wasn't just bound by his clan.

Most people only look at their close relatives for guidance, or maybe what they learn at school, But Itachi looked elsewhere for wisdom.

What wisdom did Itachi find?

Let's go back to when the village system was created.

This was before Kage's existed, and the quality of life was very poor.

Tobirama thought you couldn't be too emotional regardless of logic such as the death of your loved ones if things were going to improve.

In order for a village to be formed, alliances had to be made.

Instead of just thinking of your clan you had to think about other people as well, connected through a village.

This is what Itachi realized as well, which is why he was Kage material.

When Itachi was a kid he also saw the consequenses of war but instead of being radicalized by it wanting revenge, he became a pacifist. And sough after peace. This is a key to understanding Itachi.

Adult Itachi, Fear and Manipulation from Danzo.

We all know Itachi worked with the Anbu, And so you might think, doesn't that mean Itachi is too cold? And sort of a monster?

Well no.

Tobiramas legacy continued when Danzo sought to eliminate emotions from people for the sake of radical safety.

This is something Naruto fought against.

But Itachi did actually have a heard, even if he killed his partner.

And it was because of that Danzo managed to tip him over the edge to make a calculated decision based on fear.

While the clan were bitter and vengeful, Itachi betrayed them, this was because he wasn't bound by his clan, and his goal was to protect peace, the village, this made the clan his target instead.

Itachi was still human though, he actually went against authority when the police brought up the death of his close friend. And he tried to contain himself, maybe to set an example for his younger brother.

He tried to express his feelings towards the clan mistake, brining up the old philosophies that created a system where kids died and there were constant wars.

But nobody listened.

I think there were two major reasons why Itachi chose to do what he did.

1. The fear of an attack from one of the most dangerous clans in history.

This reason is logical, and cold, It follows the philosophy where the lives of many are greater than lives of a few. The bigger picture is that Uchiha would have started a war which was fundamentally against everything Itachi stood for.

You may complain about the practicalities but I'm here to tell you about the ideology behind it all.

HOWEVER

I believe that this wasn't the biggest reason that led Itachi to wipe out the terrorists.

The biggest reason was that he cared for his younger brother, and part of him was still irrational and only human.

When Danzo threatened his brother he realized that even if the clan would cease to exist, his brother would be safe and Itachi also did NOT go out of his way to try and convince his brother of Itachi's own philosophies.

Instead he let his brother live a life befitting someone of honor.

If Itachi had not made this decision, his brother's life would not have been safe, so in the end, Itachi did not follow the philosophy of 10 people being more important than 1. Because he treasured his brothers life more than his clan.

And instead of forcing his ways onto his brother he created a lie, so that his brother could live a normal life despite the strange circumstances.

Instead of showing him what a calm and collected person Itachi was, he pretended to be a Mad Man.

Instead of teaching his brother the wisdom of a Kage, he let him use his emotions to live al ife of vengeance, to ultimately kill for pride.

Any Uchiha left alive would have wanted revenge for their clan, that made them dangerous, yet Itachi let Sasuke live.

The anger Itachi had was not for Sasuke but for the clan who were reverting back to ancient days because of their own anger.

This experiment eventually failed when Sasuke learned the truth and he couldn't go back to a normal life after that, instead he went against the village like his clan did, and after that he wanted a village with no heart like Danzo.

Naruto fought against this, and ultimately Itachi himself was a victim of emotion, the reason why Sasuke was even alive.

Lets compare Itachis words with Madaras:

Itachi sacrificed his pride and his clan for the sake of peace.

And Madara never gave up on the ideals that existed before stable peace was created.

I believe he was contained within the world of never letting go of your own ideals, Madara did whatever he thought was necessary to reach his goal.
He never let go of eternal struggle, because he didn't believe there was anything else to life. If people didn't agree he had to make them agree, as he did with Obito.

Madara ultimately did everything for the sake of a beatiful dream.

He believed that was correct and true.

But kid Itachi wanted to look past that.

And perhaps across all the lies and false realities, Itachi worked towards changing actual reality into a peaceful place. Because he saw reality for what it was.

Something shaped by peoples own ideals. No matter how powerful we are, no matter how far we go, we can't escape this. Life is what you make it. He could have been passive and aggressive but chose to make a difference in the end he was only human and recognized his own faults.

But life isn't always about the practicalities, sometimes life is about hopes and dreams. Instead of losing himself to a dream. He sacrificed himself so that people could dream.

I get that Itachi was a good person and harbored hatred merely to protect Sasuke and Konoha while disregarding the safety
of his own clan; more like he forsakened his clan and chose to protect the village and Sasuke who were more important

But Itachisim? I would have to pass. I believe in all-out destruction giving birth to a revolution of sorts. The only way to fix
things is with murder and anarchy.

He was and should be considered a martyr, the strangest martyr in fiction.

Why a martyr you may ask? Because he sacrificed his own life for the good of people.

It's funny saying this now, before he looked like a stone cold killer.
