Legend Of Korra..Why is earth and fire bending so weak?

I will eventually considering what I saw I liked, the series felt darker and more mature than the original was and thats good

But to me after seeing the Last Airbender series then seeing that season finale of LoK I think the following episodes will be better and show more growth with the characters and all the bendings are just as strong from Last Airbender.

The only thing that baffled me about Amon getting Zapped like that was that he suffered no damage from it what so ever :/ while Aang had a scar on his back. But didn't Ozai or Zuko get struck by lightning also?

Zuko failed to re-direct the lightning and by doing that he probably diminished it's power. However, he would still have died if Katara hadn't saved him.

Bending is mainly weak because they're not in a 100 year war timeframe where they have to use it and train and be on defense 24/4. Since things have calmed down, Benders learned to use sit for fun (i.e) Pro Bending Arena.

Probably because you're not in the right place to see powerful bending. If i was a earth bender i would live in a place where i could practice earth bending with no problems. The reason why wind bending is awesome is because they have a special place to bend air. Since the beginning of the serie, i haven't seen any place for earth benders or fire benders to practice

Korra is weaker then Aang i believe. I don't see her making Fire walls etc... maybe because she lacks spiritual or technique to them. She's pretty much a brute fighter, she uses her strength instead of technique

And For Makko and Bolin... they are just weak no wow wow techniques except maybe for Makko's electricity.

probably because its only the first season too, I expect bolin and mako to get stronger as the series progresses but I dont think the bending is weaker lin and general iroh showed some pretty powerful bending

In Aang's time it was war... people were pushed further... LoK is a city where bending became some talent, some extra's, no longer an means to survive... that, and technology made them more lazy...
