Gaara rightfully destroyed that fodder.

Those two attacks target different parts in the body and extreme lotus was to knock off the sand didn't you notice Lee didn't punch Gaara till the last hit? He could have killed Gaara if he spammed punches like morning peacock but that would ruin the plot. He really didn't need todo the lotus attacks to win but you know that PnJ is a **** lol
Lee would have been utterly wrecked by Neji, the Sound guys, 2 tomoe Sasuke (or curse mark Sasuke) or Naruto. He's always been fodder guys.

I see what you mean. By comparing Lee's regular punch power to his special tai techniques, and assuming that the techniques are more powerful than a regular punch, Lee should of destroyed Gai with his Lotus kicks, etc. However, when I saw the episode, then later read the manga, I innately understood the element of surprise. In other words, Gai was sucker punched by Lee. At least in my eyes. And while Gai was expecting a fight (it was an arrange match after all) he wasn't expecting Lee's speed, I don't think anyone was. Besides, as someone else already stated, that initial punch-damage was meant to introduce Gai's sand defense; part of Plot no Jutsu. If you're still not convinced, see the fight from a more real life point of view. Ever been or seen a real fight that lasted for like only 2 seconds?--I don't encourage by the way--a good sucker punch can and often takes the most brutal looking person down. Why? Reflexives aside, because the body's endorphins (natural pain reducer) and/or adrenaline (the "fight or flight" stress hormone) haven't been working overdrive, as they would if they were already fighting. That's the effect of a sucker punch. It can be very effective in ending fights before they even start. But not always. In real life, or in manga. lolz
While none of us are ninjas able to control the elements or do supernatural feats, ninjas are humans. It is that human element the makes Naruto anime/manga so epic. As for Lee, he's one of my favorite characters in Naruto. Presuming that you're still in the Chunnin Exam arc, you'll see that Lee gets his moments to shine later on, in other ways. So enjoy, cuz Naruto is awesome!
PS-Anyways, good logic and analysis. Keep it up!! because even if one is wrong, one can learn. If one can learn, one never really loses.
what !!!!! Lee now vs Gaara now ? Lee stands no chance at allExtreme lotus was not needed because front lotus would be enough. Lee losing cause of lack of ninjutsu has nothing to do with it because the taijutsu was/should've been enough which is what his thread is about.
I think now that Lee is older and can take the effects of gate fine he would beat Gaara, he basicly could have before.
I can't believe this. 10 pages xd
If only one of my SERIOUS threads could be as popular...
Well he didn't
