Agree. Lee got pnj'd, especially with the arm/leg breaking thing.

If Lee won, he would have solo'd the chunin exams.

If he lost but didn't have his arm & leg broken, he would have solo'd Gaara before Naruto could.

And note I said Garra, not Garra & Shukaku.

gaara won rightfully u forgot that gaara has the 1 tail and it gives him regeneration powers like naruto. not as strong as naruto but enough to survive.

The only reason Lee broke Gaara's mask so early was for Kishi to show us the sand armor. It was not supposed to be so weak.

What I wanna know is why Kakashi, a Jonin, had to pull out his Sharingan just to see how fast Lee was... Every other fodder there were able to see him, even if it was barely.

Because Lee is the favourite student of Guy, Kakashi's rival, so naturally Kakashi suspects the use of the 8 gates and uses his Sharingan to check. It obviously also further highlights Lee's speed.

On main topic

Lee was a badass back then, that fight is what actually got me hooked on Naruto, but Garaa (and Kimimaru) was just the worst possible match up for him. Anyone else in the exam wouldnt have stood a chance.

Also in terms of story Lee needed to lose. Not just so Garaa went through to the next round and the main plot could continue, but because of his own personal story theme. If he had won then he wouldnt really need to carry on training so hard....

Read my edit you fool.
While Lee was going apeshit crazy on him, Gaara was just calm and actually knew what he was doing. That's why Gaara was more in control than lee was. Lee was just giving everything he had and not caring for the consequences but Gaara analyzed his opponent and waiting for the opening to make his move. You can't even analyze the fight in some deeper angle because all you see is how Lee was punching Gaara around. You're a fool.
If you can't comprehend something so simple then I suggest you go back to school .
Lol okay let me stop you there, Gaara was not calm, when Lee punched the sh*t out of him the first time Gaara had the biggest WTF look on his face and during the Lotus Gaara was actually worried until he got the split second chance to reinforce his sand armor. Lee was in control of the fight until he got worn out. Read the manga bro

If it was anyone else, Lee would have destroyed them. The only reason Gaara won that fight was because he had to fight with Naruto and Sasuke, we can't have the protaganist of that arc be defeated at such an early stage.

lee was by far the strongest in the chuunin exams and done incredibly well against an opponent who is the best match up for lee... i do think lee should have won the match without a doubt but i suppose if he went through to the chuunin exams final round .. he would of beasted everyone... only gaara was able to beat lee in the chuunin exams

i think were you are getting confused, if you step back and analyze this battle it is not a measure of who's moves were the strongest. if that were the case yes lee would have won. this is more a battle of strategy. yes lee gave the battle everything he had but the reason why he didnt win was because his power was unfocused. basically they were all just blind attacks, mainly because they had little to any thought behind them. on the other hand garaa had a plan through out the whole battle. he even stuck to this plan when the battle was clearly in lee's hands. but what turn the tide was garaa's ability to actually implement this plan. this was a mere battle of offense vs. defense. in this case defense won. garaa's entire mind set through out the battle was not only to defend but to make the moments that he was being offensive count. in which he did by attacking lee in key points through out the fight. strategically putting the momentum on his side. in turn making lee to worn out to do anything. yes garaa's attacks were not strong but they didnt need to be. when garaa was being offensive lee was to the point were he was to tired to defend or fight back. yes lee was very powerful but the Aurthur showed use how someone can be very powerful but without maturity and the capacity to use this power then forbidden jutsu's are in turn weak. kakishi saw this and in turn tought his pupil to not only use garaa's lack of stamina, but to also use a finishing power move

The naruto vs neji fight was the worse, out of the whole fight neji loses by a uppercut.
seems legit.

i know right! Naruto gets beat up for the entire fight yet when neji gets hit once he in unable to move?

No gaara won and it was correct of him to win, if lee even actually made him bleed, he would have gone crazy and started to turn into the shukaku and then the fight would have been ended by the jounin, no way lee could have won, i mean yeah i love lee but he isnt quite up to that level, even now, he still wouldnt be able to beat gaara

It was because of the plot as Kishi probably planned ahead that he required Gaara as we see later in the later and in Shippuden he turns out to be strong but i agree at that time, Lee deserved to win.

Lee would have been utterly wrecked by Neji, the Sound guys, 2 tomoe Sasuke (or curse mark Sasuke) or Naruto. He's always been fodder guys.
