Imperfect said:Okay, so, I'll just come out and admit it, I have trouble wrapping my head around the intricacies of Sealing, so I'm going to refer to the ability rule thread, and do my best to break down my understanding of it as I read through it, and boil it down to the most basic elements I can understand. However, as a starting point, I do understand that Sealing is used to seal things.
From physical objects and things like tools all the way to other Jutsu, all the way up to more metaphysical concepts, such as Chakra, one's own memories, psyche, and that infinite technicolor rainbow in-between, these are what's known as the "Target" of the Sealing technique. Examples of this would range from Tenten's scrolls which contain tools, to Kabuto sealing cadavers within his own scrolls, to Kushina and Minato sealing imprints of themselves within Naruto, which would be released upon the Nine Tail's seal becoming undone, willingly or not.
As far as I can tell, the next part would be the "Binding" of a sealing technique, which is essentially the script which envelops the Target, and seals it. From the gif shown in the Fuinjutsu Ability Rule thread, it shows an Uzumaki Elder weaving seals, before placing their hand on the ground as the sealing script travels to his Target, which I assume is some form of animal. This would then be sealed within the next part of a Sealing technique.
Regardless of what's sealed, it must be contained within some form of medium. In the case of Ninja Tools, other Jutsu, etc, you would typically use a scroll, and for more advanced concepts, they can be more unique mediums, such as yourself (Which, as I understand it, is now sealed behind Kinjutsu and Advanced Fuinjutsu). Danzo's seal he used at the end of his fight with Sasuke is an example of this, as had the seal placed onto his body, and it activated in the moments leading up to his death, with the seal activating at that point, and not only pulling himself, but also everything within the vicinity into a singularity-like pull, crushing everything, such as his body, to prevent people using it to learn the secrets of his and Orochimaru's experiments. This would be the "Medium" or "Vessel" of a Sealing technique.
Then there are two potentially optional parts of a Sealing Technique, the "Trigger" and the "Key". In regards to a trigger, the only one that comes to mind is the one that the rules mention; Danzo's Juuinjutsu, which is applied to members of Root, and activate upon them speaking of him in almost any manner, to prevent information about him from being leaked. This, I guess, would be an audible trigger, but I have to assume others exist, such as timed triggers, hand-seal-based triggers, etc. The key is, essentially, the same thing, but in reverse, undoing the seal, and bringing forth what has been sealed.
As for the last one the rules mention, personally I think it's not relevant to mention. Sealing Techniques are an advanced form of Ninjutsu, so, to me, it's only natural they would utilize and consume Chakra to perform, maintain and release. I guess the reason why this is mentioned is to point out that a Jinchuriki's Chakra is used to maintain their Tailed Beast's respective seal, not the sealer, but I can't see why that would otherwise be relevant to Sealing techniques. Just strikes me as common sense.
Finally, I'm aware that Barriers are, for some inexplicable reason, considered Sealing Techniques, but this is where my brain does not compute, and just gives up, as they aren't sealing anything. Only example I know creates a barely translucent field around the user in a certain radius, and notifies them of anything entering it's area of effect. If you could explain this to me in the simplest manner possible, you could save my poor brain from blowing up.
And that about sums up my understanding of Fuinjutsu, and it's 6 component parts.
I think I get the idea. The relationship the object being sealed it's vessel and trigger stuff is pretty simple to understand and basically you can seal anything from weapons to people to memories etc. Also went over to your thread to check the answer about the barrier question... I've got no questions so farThen read through this. This is my own response to the same question when I began my Fuin training. You do at least have the fundamental grasp of what Fuinjutsu is, and I can understand not knowing anything beyond that, cause it is a more complicated field than your typical skill. Hopefully by reading this you'll have a better grasp at what components make up Seals, and start seeing each of them in the techniques to follow. If you have any questions, ask away.
1. Light String FormationSorry, that was my bad. I forgot bout the existence of barriers that siphon Chakra, and seal it within the user, like Infinite Embraces, hence my confusion about why barriers are lumped in with the field, but it makes sense in hindsight. Anyway, I'd like you to read through and explain the Jutsu as I post them. I'll also be asking questions about them from time to time, to emphasize some key aspects of the techniques.
( Isshi Tōjin ) - Light String Formation
Type: Supplementary
Rank: C
Range: Short
Chakra: 15
Damage: N/A
Description: This barrier is designed to prevent anyone from leaving its confines. Once within a certain range of the person, the user erects the barrier underfoot rendering anyone within the seals, incapable of escaping. Should the user use on someone of a higher rank than him, than the effects will be null. However, should 2 or more barriers are combined, then the effects will be increased one rank ( Kages would effect Sages now, for example ).
This one is rather basic, but it does have it's uses. Give a small explanation of using it, and move on to the next.
( Fuuinjutsu: Kōmu Kekkaijutsu ) - Sealing Arts: Crimson Mist Barrier Jutsu
Type: Supplementary
Rank: C
Range: Short - Long
Chakra: 15
Damage: N/A
Description: By summoning a thick wall of mist, the user can impair sight for all within it. It also masks any sound from being heard outside of the mist. The effectiveness of this technique varies between users as it depends on the user's skill. Starting at Chunnin rank, this lasts for 1 turn and can be extended 1 turn per rank increase up to Kage rank (6 turns). Chunnin and Special Jounin can use this up to Short range, Jounin and S-class Ninja can use this up to Mid range and Sannin and up can extend this to long range.
This one needs an update to reflect the changes to the Ranking system, but has more utility than the last. What are some of the potential ways you could take advantage of a barrier that remove one of the opponent's basic senses, while preventing others from receiving another?
(Kekkai: Tengai Hojin) - Barrier: Dome Method Formation
Rank: B-Rank
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short- Mid
Chakra cost: 20 (- 10 per turn to keep active)
Damage points: N/A
Description: After clapping ones hands, this technique creates a spherical detection barrier above ground with the user at the center. At the user's command, the detection barrier can expand, grasping everything in the battle field. The user is able to detect anything that moves inside the barrier space with his or her own "sense".
A barrier that gives you extrasensory capabilities. What are some of the limitations to what this technique can sense? It mentions that it only creates a barrier above ground, then mentions "expanding" to encompass the entire battlefield. Would this be able to detect attacks below the ground or not? What about a more complicated example, like the Hayabusa? Would this technique be able to detect their presence at all?
Everything seems easy enough to understand.... I have a question about the third technique...Is it possible to place the seal on the opponent themselves? (At the expense of blowing yourself up too)To answer your questions, no you can't redirect the chakra into a weapon or another vessel instead of the user. It might be possible to make a technique that siphons extra chakra when you reach your cap so you don't explode, but as it is you can't do that. The absorbed chakra goes back into your own pool.
The Sealing tag technique is "specially designed to be used on summons and Edo Tensei Summons but will work on any opponent except Jinchurikiis", but yes it will stop summonings from moving.
Moving on. The first technique is one that you can use in the increasingly probably event that you come across a Jinchuuriki in their incomplete form. By placing this seal on the forehead you can forcefully cause the tailed beast's power to recede, leaving the host exhausted.
( Chakra Haisui Fūin no Jutsu ) – Chakra Suppression Seal Technique
Rank: B-Rank
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 20
Damage points: N/A
Description: The user places this seal on the forehead of a Jinchuuriki influenced by the powers of a Bijuu, to forcibly cause the Bijuu's powers to recede. The Jinchuuriki becomes exhausted after this happens.
Note: This can only restrict Jinchuuriki in their Incomplete form, not when they completely transform into the Bijuu.
The generic sealing technique is a jack of all trades. You can make use of it to summon or store items, weapons, dead bodies, generic arrows, etc. The only limitation is that you can't store living things or customs weapons with it. A good use of this in a defensive capacity it the unfurl a scroll to seal generic kunai or senbon that are coming your way
( Han'you Fūin ) - Generic Sealing Technique
Rank: B-Rank
Type: Supplementary , Defensive
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 20
Damage points: N/A
Description: This technique is a standard ninja skill which allows a ninja to summon an assortment of items or weapons that have been stored using Fūinjutsu, typically they are stored within scrolls. When needed, the owner will activate the seals releasing their item or weapon of choice. Scrolls can also be used as ammunition for other weapons. The items themselves are unaffected by time. This Technique allows the user to seal any weapons they wish being their own or opponents.
Note: Cannot seal opponent's custom weapons, or the special weapons of a particular character ( example: Samehada or Kubikiribocho ).
Note: Can only seal corpses, and not injured people regardless of the extent of their injury.
This last technique is simple in application. You place a seal somewhere and when a target gets within range it explodes.
( Fūin Wana Bakuhatsu ) – Sealing Trap Explosion
Rank: B-Rank
Type: Offensive, Defensive
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 20
Damage points: 40
Description: The user places a seal on a chosen location which when an enemy target draws closer to the seal it will release itself in activation to the enemy’s chakra and cause an explosion.
I've got no further questions on these.Yes. You could place it on yourself and have it detonate when an opponent enters its range. Naturally, this comes at the risk of injuring yourself if you don't have proper defenses to mitigate the damage.
Moving on. This technique allows you to lock an opponent in suspended animation for a single turn. This can only be done if you've managed to trap them in a container of some sort, after which you'll use five sealing tags on each side of the container to form a pentagon shape. Keep in mind that the opponent can break out of the container if you don't place the seals in time.
( Shikoku Mujin ) - Four Black Fog Battle Formation
Rank: B-Rank
Type: Supplementary
Range: Close
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: N/A
Description: When the opponent is trapped inside a container of some sort, the user places five sealing tags, on each side of the container forming a rough pentagon shape. The opponent is then locked in suspended animation for one turn.
Note: If the opponent escapes the container or shatters it before all the tags are placed, he avoids the technique fully.
A go-to sealing technique. You produce a scroll and write the name of an element you want to seal, and when faced with an attack of that nature a vapor will come out of the scroll that envelops the attack and seal it within the scroll. This technique can seal up to one S rank technique (40 chakra) per turn.
( Ho/Mizu/Kaze/Tsuchi/Rai Houin ) - Fire/Water/Wind/Earth/Lightning Sealing Method
Rank: B-Rank
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user takes out a scroll, and writes the name of the element they wish to seal in it. They then make four handseals, and a vapour comes out of the scroll, envelops the technique they wish to seal and seals it back into the scroll.
Note: This technique can only seal one technique up to S-rank per usage
Note: This technique may be used only thrice.
A useful technique that almost every fuuin user has on their bio in the beginning. This is a body seal placed in your biography that allows you to summon basic ninja tools from sealing marks placed on either your body or clothing.
(Kuchiyose: Raikō Kenka) - Summoning: Lightning Blade Creation
Rank: B-Rank
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra cost: N/A (-5 per tool/weapon)
Damage points: N/A
Description: This is a special "ninja tool summon" that allows the user to seal basic ninja tools, like shurikens, kunais, swords, etc into sealing marks placed on their clothes or their body. The ninja tools can be summoned in an instant just by touching the sealing "marks". The greatest advantage of this technique is that the time between taking out a ninja tool, taking the right stance and actually throwing it is greatly reduced and one can unleash a barrage of weapons with great speed in a small time window. Also when a weapon such as a Fūma Shuriken is summoned, the time needed to throw it can be further shortened by having prepared the weapon in fully extended form beforehand. Sasuke even shown that you can have the weapons connected to wires and linked to their sealing marks and used the technique in sealing marks he placed in his wrist bracers.
Note: Can summon up to 30 basic tools per sealing mark and can have up to 2 sealing marks.
1. Boundary Barrier TechniqueSorry for the wait. Moving on to A ranks now. For these three, I'd like you to explain how they work and ask any questions regarding anything you don't understand
(Kyōkai Kekkai no Jutsu) - Boundary Barrier Technique
Rank: A-Rank
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short - Long
Chakra cost: 30 (-10 per turn remaining active)
Damage points: N/A
Description: This is a detection type barrier which is simply a more advanced version of the (Kekkai: Tengai Hojin) - Barrier: Dome Method Formation technique and that can be used to surround an area and allows the user to monitor a certain area covering from the sky to underneath the ground creating a sphere. The user will create a tag with the 許可 (Kyoka) Kanji and place it on the ground, doing the confrontation hand seal afterwards to activate it. After the barrier is erected, the user, if inside it, will be able to detect any enemy inside it, even if he hiding his presence. After that, anyone who enters or leaves the barrier is instantly detected as well as anything that moves inside it. Techniques that mask the users presence are ineffective at avoiding detection as the barrier focuses on movement and displacement of matter, not solely on chakra detection. The barrier can also be moved according to the requirements of the user by moving the tag.
Note: Can only be used twice.
(Hogo Fuda Kekkai no Jutsu) - Protective Tag Barrier Technique
Rank: A-Rank
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 30
Damage points: N/A
Description: This technique uses special talismans that when a specific part of the users body is targeted, this technique then activates and covers the specific area. The talismans move to cover the specific body part and form a barrier protecting it.
Note: Only Ao biographies can apply the tags.
(Tajū Mugen Hōyō ) - Multiple Infinite Embraces
Rank: A-Rank
Type: Offensive
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra cost: 30 (-100 to the target per turn, +100 to user per turn)
Damage points: N/A
Description: This technique is a stronger version of Infinite Embraces and is used basically in the same manner. The user will do the Tiger → Dog → Horse → Dragon → Boar hand seals and slam his hands on the ground, creating a bigger barrier than the original technique but similar in its essence which drains the target's chakra but also pushes down on them making it much harder to break free. The massive pressure the technique puts on the target prevents the target from moving unless it has some sort of enhanced strength ability, making it very difficult to break free from it. Unable to move, the targets are also unable to mold chakra above A-Rank while having his chakra drained. The barrier can only be broken by A-Rank techniques or above or by attacking the user.
The Boundary Barrier Technique remains active as long as you put chakra into it. It forms a dome around where it's places and detects movement, which you'll be able to sense if you're within this dome. So if you place it on your clothes or something you'll always be within the dome, and it'll move with you.1. Boundary Barrier Technique
From what I understand this is basically a sphere created by the user in order to be able to monitor any activity within in. The user has to be in it as well of course and also masking techniques don't work in here. The user can also move the sphere by moving the tag but I'm guessing that would deactivate it whilst it's being moved and would require reactivation. Easy to understand, no questions.
2. Protective Tag Barrier Technique
I don't really know why I'm learning this since I don't have a Ao bio but anyways. This is basically a talisman that is set to protect a part of the body that has been chosen, so head, arm, leg etc. I'm guessing this cannot protect the entire body at once and just focuses on whatever part the talisman has been set to. Also simple, no questions.
3. Multiple Infinite Embraces
So the user does a couple of handseals and slams his hands onto the ground creating a barrier that not only drains the chakra of the opponent but also restricts their movement (I'm assuming to a certain degree and not completely. Saying this because the opponent can still perform moves up to A-rank). I do have a question, does this move require the user to be still? Because it can be broken by simply attacking the the user.
Sorry I'm taking so long tor reply. No excuses I saw this and I just forgot, I'll do better. The Boundary Barrier Technique remains active as long as you put chakra into it. It forms a dome around where it's places and detects movement, which you'll be able to sense if you're within this dome. So if you place it on your clothes or something you'll always be within the dome, and it'll move with you.
The second technique was an oversight on my part lol. My bad. MIE drains 100 chakra from the target and adds in to your reserves. One thing to note is that if you go over your chakra capacity you die from the stress of it, so if your total chakra cap is 1600 and you have 1520 chakra and then use this technique, then you'll die. So it's best to use this technique later on in a battle.
As for your question, the barrier requires you to sustain it and remain stationary, so you can't use another technique while it's up. Doing so will cause the restrictive effects and the chakra draining to end, allowing the opponent to move freely. The barrier can be broken by A ranks, but since the opponent is immobile then they won't be able to form handseals. The can use techniques of the appropriate rank to attack you, which forces you to defend and lif the effects of the barrier. Anothing thing to note is that MIE won't restrict people with Enhanced Strengening techniques active suce as CES or strength of a hundred and things like that/ They'll be able to move under the barrier, but the chakra drain will still apply.
Here's the next set to techniques.
( Hijutsu: Fūinjutsu Kai ) – Secret Technique: Sealing Release
Rank: A
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra: N/A (same chakra as the seal thats to be released)
Damage: N/A
Description: The user can use this technique to dispel sealing techniques of various natures by forcefully breaking open the seal or, in extreme cases, erasing/cancelling them. For seals placed on a living medium, the user must make contact with the seal. For other seals, being in short range of it is enough. Normally, to perform this technique one needs to do the confrontation or the tiger handseal.
Note: Regular Fuuinjutsu users can dispel Sealing Techniques B-Rank and below. Uzumaki bios can dispel up to A-Rank. Advanced Sealing Specialists can dispel up to standard S rank Sealing Technique.
( Fūinjutsu: Seikatsu Kekkai ) – Sealing Technique: Living Barrier
Rank: A-Rank
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 30 (-15 per turn active)
Damage points: N/A
Description: The user takes out two bladed objects and crosses them. This creates a seal that seals away 50% of the chakra of any opponents within short-range of the user, allowing them to use only up to A-rank techniques.
Note: Sealing Method lasts 2 turns maximum.
Note: If the opponent moves out of short range, he regains his original abilities
( Keiyaku Fūin ) – Contract Seal
Rank: A-Rank
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 30
Damage points: N/A
Description: The user, after having obtained some of the opponent's blood, touches a summoning that the opponent is controlling, causing a kanji formula to generate which forces the summoner to lose control of that summon. The summon does not fight for the user, but instead disappears back to its summon realm.
Note: Can only be used twice by regular sealing users while medical sealing masters can use it indefinitely.
