I pick Ieyasu Uchiha, shikamaru sees ieyasu uchiha come to the training ground and he thinks so this is my new teacher he thought, well at least I got taught genjustu by an uchiha they specialise in it, shikamaru hears ieyasu words which are what do you know about genjustu?, shikamaru thinks for a moment and says genjustu is created when a ninja controls the chakra flow of the opponent's cerebral nervous system, thereby affecting their five senses, genjustu is mainly used to create false images or to cause pain from trauma (because the body is led to believe it is in pain); however, there are plenty of other uses depending on the situation like interrogating someone or showing them things that happened in the past like itachi did with sasuke, or you can even use it to control people to do your bidding seen when itachi used genjustu on the woman to distract jiriya to get naruto.

shikamaru got agitated by his sensei calling him stupid, he wasn't really familiar with genjustu but was eager to learn as it is used by a vast majority of ninjas. shikamaru reply's to his new sensei "yes I have a few questions I get how to determine lower genjustu like land changing, for when you walk on the blades of the grass they don't move or get squashed underfoot, but I wouldn't able to know how much pain I would have to make to break out the genjustu, the other question is when do we start sensei" I understand how the curriculum is going to work

you can realize genjustu if you are a charka sensor by checking if your charka flow is disturbed , there is also if you have the sharingan this can pierce through different ranked genjustu 1 tomoe D rank 2 tome C rank 3 tome B rank MS A rank EMS S rank these bot usually they have a higher degree of confirmation ability due to their ability's. though this is difficult as different genjustu have different affects some don't care that you know its genjustu but these will just inflict a lot of pain whereas discrete and the victim doesn't know their in a genjustu and this is harder to break out of.

"Ordinarily I'd be hard pressed about revealing my own abilities but you're still missing quite a bit. Sharingan users aren't the only dojutsu capable of discovering if they're in a genjutsu, however they are the only ones with the ability to pierce an illusion as you said. Needless to say the Sharingan's abilities to pierce through genjutsu are limited to certian genjutsu which I won't tell and have you figure out at a later point in time. However every dojutsu user is capable of seeing chakra and detecting their own chakra in order to realize they're in a genjutsu. The important part, however, is realizing or suspecting you're caught in one. Some genjutsu are so subtle that there is no need to be suspicious and therefore a sensor or dojutsu user wouldn't check their chakra pathway to see the disturbance. Even if you are a sensor or dojutsu user you need probable cause if you are going to check your own chakra since ordinarily you activate your sensory abilities to keep track of your surroundings which is one thing you should keep in mind when casting genjutsu. Make your opponent focus on what's around them and not going on inside them.
Though I'm curious, I want to know why you would assume somebody would casually inflict pain upon themselves to release a genjutsu?"

So somebody inflicts pain to bring that sense back and disrupt the genjustu cast on them.

For one thing the level of genjutsu you're under doesn't always call for 'serious' pain and second of all if your opponent sees you so easily willing to maim yourself they could intentionally cast several illusions and just have you kill yourself eventually or make you to injured to fight and use the most minimal of effort.
Understand unless you have a means of healing or regenerative ability inflicting hindering pain upon yourself should be a last resort effort of releasing genjutsu. The more you harm yourself the easier it is for your opponent to take advantage of you later. It's a common strategy of gen users."

oh right as you can see my knowledge in genjustu is very limited but im eager to learn everything canon which can be taught as genjustu is very powerful to use and is used by a wide Varity of people who is very skilled with it and thanks I now know that inflicting pain to break out a genjustu is a last option. Something I missed last time though is you can use kai to release yourself out the genjustu also. Which would most likely be the best way

Can you explain to me how the Genjutsu Kai works?

from what I can understand kai is to disturb your charka flow once you know you are in a genjustu so you can get out of the genjustu without harming yourself though it is limited and different to different ranked ninja so the higher ranked the ninja the higher rank genjustu they can dispel expect for certain justu and MS justu. overall this justu is good in my opinion as it can fix you in tight jam if you need to break a genjustu.

This first jutsu is actually one of my favorite genjutsus and surprisingly OP if you use it right. You change how your opponent's surroundings look. For example, if we're both on a grassland, you can change it to look like a desert. But that's not all! You can change features and add things! One good use is to use this gen to make it seem like you've formed a clone to attack alongside you, tricking your opponent to counter what may not be there

Shikamaru as he ran towards souji sensei clone makes the shadow clone handseal and cast a genjustu upon him making him see 3 Shikamaru attacking him but all was weaving the shadow clone handseal making it look like their is 3 Shikamaru is attacking, Shikamaru makes the clones look like they are attacking with kunai and they all throw kunai at your clone but only the real Shikamaru kunai hits your clone and makes him disperse (didn't know how you meant use it in a creative way in a battle without a clone, hope this is alright >_>)
my opinion on this justu is that this justu despite its low rank it can be very useful due to its subtly of it actually being cast and hard to detect you are in one and as you said if used right can be very op.

No, that was actually a brilliant usage of the jutsu! You fooled your enemy into thinking you did the Shadow Clone technique by forming the handseal (when it wasn't needed to cast the gen), and unless your opponent is a sensor or a dojutsu user, they'd have a much harder time trying to figure out it was an illusion.
This is the key to using genjutsu in fights. You want to place your opponent in a situation where it becomes nearly impossible for them to break free of the illusion without metagaming, allowing your follow through attacks to continue onward.
And as for your question, I don't think so. Try not to do advanced manipulations of the surroundings; they may not be within the scope of the technique. Remember, it only changes appearances of the area, adding or removing features, etc.

This is especially true when you know your terrain. If you're in a desert, the logic that cherry blossoms suddenly appear would be like, "what"? xD

a little harder then the petals out of nowhere but you can just use a justu to attack the clone and then blow the paper bomb away so nothing would happen to you.

This one's interesting. You create a set of illusory clones that erupt from the ground and terrain. When your target attacks them, they split and multiply. The clones have no real physical presence, so in reality, your opponents are simply smacking the air. You can control the illusion and make the clones move in certain ways, making them appear real!
