Naruto is a kinesthetic learner though. If anything, he inherited his mother's attitude and his father's will. If he had his father's genius, he wouldn't be dumb enough to listen to Mizuki. Anything Naruto sees, it's easier for him to learn. Why else he learned Shadow Clone Jutsu that quick?

I'm not sure about the Sasuke being a late bloomer part.

He was already in the Top 10 before the war. Getting a rinnegan gift is the result of puberty? There's a difference between flowering and becoming godly powerful.

I used Naruto and Sasuke as an example, but I was more talking about how the concept was never explored in manga, and it seemed like you were either a dropout or a genius when thats not the case.

Im using the word genius the same way the manga uses it. Not as a literal genius, but as someone who can master and is skilled at being a ninja. I say his genius exceeds Minato's because Kishimoto deliberately set obstacles that Minato couldn't hurdle in Naruto's path and had him jump them. Mainly Rasenshuriken and Sage mode later on.

Good point but if Naruto is that kind of genius, he should be better in his fights and not rely on Rasengan spam. :L

Actually, i'd take it the other way, Naruto became one of the greatest ninja with only rasengan variants and kagebunshin.

Not sure if Naruto is a late bloomer, considering Kurama was always there to disrupt his chakra, which is why he had a hard time making a shadow clone.

3 tomoe Itachi and 3 tomoe Sasuke both > 3 tomoe Madara.
MS Sasuke and MS Itachi both > MS Madara.

Madara, Hashirama, and Tobirama developed the bases of ninja arts when the leaf was invented. And more and more techniques of the uchiha were still being developed during that time.

I agree about the Naruto part, but disagree with the Sasuke part. Sasuke wasn't technically a late bloomer. It's just that being an Uchiha, his powers progress and bloom from the scratch whereas Naruto gets immediate massive jumps with his powers. But since Sasuke's progression rate is much faster than Naruto, he parallels him at some point slowly covering up Naruto's massive leaps. (This was a point of confusion, aside from it, not much to establish him as a late bloomer). And the scan you provided about Orochimaru's statement actually proves that Sasuke is not a late bloomer since he achieved the same level of power at the age of 17 that Madara attained much farther in his life.

Sasuke was called a prodigy by everyone. Itachi is simply a more rare prodigy by comparison. Naruto was never a late bloomer. He doesn't possess much talent either.

Considering his immense talent that exceed's Madara's he's a late bloomer. He didn't graduate from the academy early like all the other prodigies, he couldn't kill senju adults as a kid like Madara, at 13 he was chunin level, but he needed the 2nd state cursed seal to get to hi chunin level while Itachi wiped out the clan at that age(and was anbu captain). This is why I say Sasuke is a late bloomer compared to all the other talented people, because at similar ages he pales in comparison.
