Why is the UCHIHA clan didn't save the KONOHA during the KYUBI's attack when NARUTO was born?

well mostly it has been stated that Uchiha were after the attack but it hasn't been proved yet.
well let's think as an Uchiha why would they help the village? they were trying to take over the village , so this was a very good opportunity for them , the attack would deduce the numbers of ninja from the village making easy to take over the village.:ice:
