Unpopular opinion but I tend to root for the characters with the best character designs, and Kurenai had the best character design out of the 4 Jounin imo.

Kishi let down all Kunochi in his series aside from Tsunade. Shizune was similarly left in the cold, like Kurenai.

Shizune was a pretty OP shinobi and apprentice to Tsunade. Trading blows with Part 1 Kabuto, would be like trading blows with Part 1 Kakashi.
