I always wondered why Kushina survived the bijuu extraction due to her Uzumaki chakra and life force, while her son did not. Is it because he's only half Uzumaki? Maybe. But I have another theory I posted a while ago in another thread.
This'll be short:
I believe that the real difference between Kushina surviving and Naruto not, is not necessary based on Naruto's chakra or life force being inferior to his mom's, but is based on the actual relationship they have with Kurama.
When Obito released kurama, Kushina's exceptionally strong uzumaki life force kept her alive. Even after just giving birth. By comparison it would see her son's chakra was of less quality since he didn't last nearly as long. But there are some factors overlooked.
Naruto was probably the only real friend Kurama ever made. Prior to this, he hated humans. Heck ALL the bijuu did at some point. Kushina was nothing more than a cell to Kurama, as opposed to naruto who was willing to see him as a friend and ally. When Naruto and Kurama worked together, their chakra became one as Naruto became the perfect Jin. His chakra and life force was deeply tied to Kurama's. So when Madara extracted kurama, it would make sense that naruto wouldn't be saved by his uzumaki chakra, because he was directly tied to kyubi when he was taken.
Kushina on the other hand, was at odds with kurama. They never cooperated or worked together in anyway. This is the major reason IMO that Kushina could rely on her chakra to keep her alive, when Obito released Kurama. He was not in anyway tied to her chakra other then being his 'jailer'. Thus she survived not because her chakra was greater than Naruto's, but because they were both in different situations involving how 'close' Kurama was to them.
Anyway that's my theory. What say you?
