In the event that only one game happens moving forward, most Boruto era characters and abilities will be removed to better help with power creep, stronger fields and power balancing. A couple of years ago, the RP essentially scaled up after I hosted a series of threads and members initially wanted the power ceilings and caps to rise, though it seems like in hindsight, everyone prefers the days before that ( based on comments in the last few discussion threads regarding the God Tier power levels present in NW) so the current goal is to depower unnecessary strength and adjust scaling to make the best skills in the game (not including YY) reflect power levels more appropriate to the start of the war and not closer to present day BorutoUnderstandable, I guess the stuff already added like daemon and that would have to be removed.
Might be something worth revisiting later depending on interest in legacy game vs the new rp
Last I read was Boruto having a rasengan power based on the rotation of the planet, so it's probably for the best we don't go / keep going down that rabbit hole.In the event that only one game happens moving forward, most Boruto era characters and abilities will be removed to better help with power creep, stronger fields and power balancing. I've read through the thread and suggestions to this point so will start with this.
I'm more than fine with cannon bios being removed in place with opening up the abilities as, to a point, cannon characters have limited creativity. Like you say, people wanting wood sage mode. We saw people wanting FTG as a prize from tournaments without having to be Minato for example.
With a restart and change over like this, what would you suggest about the people who earned those bios previously? Through tests or other means. For example, anyone who did the 20-30 missions to unlock a jin's power? Or say Skorms Hiruko? Would you aim for a hard reset removing everything from everyone? Or aim for a smaller reset. Customs, ability load outs, the ninja world etc. Leaving stuff in peoples inventories, but scaling stuff back?
Like you said before, the technology stuff didn't work out how you'd wanted. But what about, for example, custom clans? I know there are quite a few surge binders still around for example.
Would you move all the current systems as they are to a legacy format in one RP side. Then start a new sub forum for AB RP 2.0. Where it's a reset of everything with everything refined?
Personal ideas:
The abilities like Dokkodo and Technology etc get the [Legacy] tag at the front of them in the rules. Same with the old customs thread etc. Anything with a [Legacy] tag can only be used in the BA or potentially a [Legacy] event.
From there, the new RP reformat the bio template/builds. The rules from cannon bios are then set into a tier system as they are now to be either unlocked or purchased. Abilities being purchasable was a great addition IMO. It meant someone who wasn't the most battle savey, could always attain a skill or they bio they loved for the narrative side.
I think, reduce every damage buff in the game to a max of +20. Same with max damage reduction of 20.
I think a max of 2 buffs + AP buffs is still a good system.
Maybe introduce, for Mind AP, a choice of empowering one skill or element. Like making that one element you specialise in neutral. Leaning into the class fantasy side.
The damage system should then become number related. A rank (60) - B rank (40) = 20 damage going through.
Drop the current story in the ninja world. Gods and world changing events meant players had to then scale themselves up to that level of power. The power creep meant to do harder content you needed just the highest tier of bios to partake. I get some abilities will always be stronger than others (phasing, shinra tensei etc). Scaling it back, keep the same map (there is nothing wrong with the map), only use one nation to start. Build from there. Work on the levels that rifts had too.
I think custom elements could all be made cannon, one at a time, like you'd done with Greek fire for example. It wouldn't be game changing, it's still just and element with strengths and weaknesses.
I think the fight system works with the time frame and speed in place. Changing the system adding more caveats to make it way too complicated for any new player. I think sensei should be kept. Catch up mechanics for new players in place as they do the orientation etc.
If a reset is done, have old abilities traded in for tokens. Can use these tokens to create a new bio and gain some abilities. I can't remember what this was called, but when the kumi system came in and people could sell old abilities for kumi. Do something like this. But if you're done this, lock off tier 5/6. Remove YY while it's rethought of. Introduce this stuff in later patches.
Rulings need to be kept track of. I tried this before, but it's a continuity thing.
I'm sure there was something else I thought of but this is it for now. Tweaking current systems I think is what the game needs. Not overhauling them like some people are suggesting. There is a strong base in the RP and that's why it lasted so long
Cant give a direct eta on that right now as I'm in the process of making sure this game is being handled properly and there's more to do. Currently interviewing and picking Sensei for the next two days and then will tackle bio rules and other systems in between their trainings. I'd estimate work will start on it at the end of this week or early next week, though I'm going to be popping up in the threads in the announcement section to poll members more on things such as the direction and nature of the game.@Lord of Kaos Just curious: when will the new RP be developed and put into gear? I am quite interested in seeing how it starts out for all of us. I know it will take some time to develop but I'm asking for more of an estimate than a specific date.
Sounds good! Thank you for the update.Cant give a direct eta on that right now as I'm in the process of making sure this game is being handled properly and there's more to do. You've been robbed. Should of spent it while you had the chance peasant!I noticed a few days ago I can't see my kumi. Is this getting reimplimented? How are we going to keep up with it?
