Coming from: here
Mission with the following story elements:
Infiltrate an enemy's organization (А)
Fight an enemy much stronger than yourself (S)

__________

Grey had finally arrived at Kiyorano. He stood exhausted, watching over the towering walls before him. He was given a quest by his friend, Samira Uchiha - to infiltrate the militia group based here, and hopefully gather information. This could have been avoided, had he not killed all the attackers, but alas the job had to be done. On his way here, he was strategizing how to infiltrate the organization. They had a reputation for being secretive. On the surface they were simply mercenaries for hire; nothing out of the ordinary; many of those around the world. But from what Grey had heard, they were much more than that. Tales of their use of Kinjutsu were told all around the world, and Grey had the not easy task to earn their trust.

But how does one infiltrate such a tight nit community? Well not by going and knocking on the door, that's for sure. No. Grey decided to take a more cunning approach. He set up a modest camp in a small forest at the edge of their territory. It was not too far away to remain unnoticed, but just distant enough to avoid immediate reaction. He knew this would draw attention and hoped they would come to investigate this lone ranger passing.

Sure enough, his ploy paid off. It wasn't even full twenty four hours before Grey heard the crunch of footsteps approaching. "Cocky" he thought, as they were not even trying to conceal their presence. But then again neither was he.

As they neared, Grey stood up, nonchalant. “What brings you gentlemen here?” he called out, trying to sound casual.

One of the soldiers, a tall man with quite the large scar on his face spoke first: “You’re trespassing. Leave." His tone was serious, yet somehow lacked any emotion. Grey was caught off guard by the blunt order. He pondered weather he wanted to appear strong or weak in their eyes; something he should have thought of beforehand perhaps. “I’m just passing through. Will be on my way at the first light of dawn." answered Grey, trying to sound diplomatic, yet standing his ground.

Another man spoke back, rather short and skinny one, his tone a bit girly. "I'm afraid this won't cut it, darling. This is our theritory and we don't allow people we don't know here. So, on your way now."

Grey met his gaze directly. At this point he knew confrontation was imminent. Dimplomacy wasn't gonna cut it. He had to show strength to these brutes if he was eventually to earn their trust. "Make me!" he challenged with a serious tone.

The two men shared a look. They weren't expecting the kind of defiance from a man they had outnumbered three to one. Before they could say anything, a tall, hooded figure stepped forward. “Enough of this,” the man said, his voice filled with anger. “You will be escorted out.”

As the man spoke, he bend down to release weights from his ankles. As the first one dropped to the ground, Grey realized he will be outmatched in a fair fight. This was the time to strike. The ground trembeled for a second, before four large ice spears, protruded from bellow the man, aiming to skewer him. But he was faster. The second weight was released and the man vanished from the spot, appearing next to Grey in a blur of speed, slamming his elbow onto Grey's chest, sending him flying.

(Hissatsu Hyōsō) Certain-Kill Ice Spears
Type: Offensive/Defensive
Rank: B
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 20
Damage: 40
Description: The user will create a single, or a large abundance, of very large ice spikes that will protrude from the ground. The spikes were shown to have been about the size, taller even, than a small house. The user can make multiple spikes that will rise up simultaneously in the same general vicinity, or a single one.

Grey stood up, coughing up blood ready to fight back, but to his surpise the man wasn't attacking. Instead he said: "Quite the fast ice technique you got there; you could have for sure taken out this lot behind me." Pointing with his thumb back towards his comrades. "We don't see many Ice users around here. Care to impress us with your abilities? "

Grey brushehd the blood from his mouth with his sleeve. "Impressing you in not on my to do list, but killing you.." the man interupted before Grey could finish his threat. "You are way out of your league boy! Know your place. This might be an opportunity for you to get stronger. Think of it as audition of some sort. Now SHOW ME YOUR ICE JUTSU!" he screamed off the top of his lungs.

On the inside, Grey was extatic from what he was hearing. His plan had worked, only thing left to do was to impress the lot. He tried not to show just how excited he was, and instead was trying to remain as serious as possible. A smirk managed to come through on his face as he formed a single hand seal. The wind around the shinobi grew cold. As the wind swirled, snow appeared, encasing the entire battle ground with a massive freezing cold tornado. The hot air quickly moved upwards, while nothing but shivering cold air remaind around the four shinobi. The three strangers watched in awe as the colossal tornado, swirled around them with grace, creating a barrier 50 meters all around the men. "Make no mistake gentlemen, I am not trapped in here with you. You are trapped in here with me." said Grey with a chilling smile on his face. He was protected from the cold by the very snow that had encased the opponents. Suddenly the snow around him turned black, taking the form of a massive dragon that shot at his opponents aiming to devour them in its cold jaws.

(Hyouton: Khione no Saikuron) Ice Release: Khione's Cyclone
Type: Attack
Rank: Forbidden
Range: Short-Long
Chakra: 50
Damage: N/A
Description: After the user performs a string of 15 handseals and releases a massive amount of hyouton chakra around the battlefield, he creates a massive tornado all around it, with a radius up to 50m. The tornado consists of nothing more than a massive wind current and snow. The wind carries the snow in a cyclic motion at very high speeds, which makes the snow act as a wall/barrier around the battlefield, cold enough to freeze anything that passes through it. Due to the rotation speed and the basic principle of hot-cold air, everything within it freezes in the 4th turn after using the jutsu. As the tornado spins around the battlefield, hot air moves upwards while the cold air stays low, near the ground, freezing anything caught within it, including the user. The same way the snow acts as a heat insulator when forming around the battlefield, the user can use it to protect himself against this technique. After the 4th turn, and freezing of the battlefield occurs, the cyclone vanishes. While performing this technique, the user must stay steady.
Note: While this jutsu is in use, the user can perform only 2 techniques per turn for the next 4 turns, due to the massive amount of chakra being released
Note: Only up to and including S ranked techniques on next 4 turns
Note: No ice jutsus same turn
Note: Usable only once per battle
Note: User can perform only water, wind and ice techniques while using this technique
Note: Courtesy of McRazor

(Hyouton: Kokuryū Bōfūsetsu) Ice Release: Black Dragon Blizzard
Type: Offensive
Rank: A
Range: Short-Long
Chakra: 30
Damage: 60
Description: The user will make a giant ether-like dragon of black snow. The dragon is capable of turning while in mid-air, and is therefore very difficult to be dodged. If it hits the opponent successfully, they will be launched high into the air afterwards.

As the dragon was about to strike, Grey realized he is way over his head this time, as he saw the Rinnegan activating in his opponent's eyes. The man placed his palm forward and absorbed the ice dragon as if it was nothing.

( Fūjutsu Kyūin ) - Blocking Technique Absorption Seal
Type: Defensive
Rank: S
Range: Short
Chakra: 40 ( -100 per turn if used on an enemy )
Damage: N/A
Description: A highly advanced sealing technique that is capable of absorbing any chakra, regardless of any shape or nature transformation, and dispersing it within one's body by spinning the chakra within one's body in the opposite direction. As a result, this technique can absorb any ninjutsu based technique, regardless of power, without harming the user. Should the user get close enough to grab the opponent, the barrier can absorb chakra right out of an individual's body, effectively draining them (similar to the Chakra Absorption Technique). If the user is weakened or injured, he can use this technique to absorb chakra and replenish his chakra resources and restore his stamina and chakra flow. If used to absorb Bijuu chakra, the user can even regenerate by half the amount absorbed, using the special vitality of that powerful chakra to power his body and regenerate. However, the user will also be vulnerable to the effects of chakra he cannot control, such as with Senjutsu. Both these aspects, however, pertain to a direct contact absorption and not technique absorption. When using the technique for direct contact chakra absorption, the user can absorb up to 100 chakra points per turn which he can convert into his own.
Note: Can only be used by Rinnegan bios with the (Gakidō) - Preta Path active.
Note: Can only be used 6 times
Note: Can absorb any Ninjutsu regardless of rank, nature or other properties as long as its within the same timeframe.

The man spoke with a grin of his own this time: "So blinded by arrogance, you don't see you're standing in the ashes of the ones who came before you." The line sent a chill down Grey's spine. What had he gotten himself into? "Do you have any other tricks to show for?"

Grey realized he was qutie weaker than the opponent, but had a cobination up his sleeve that could turn the tides. He was almost certain this would work as his opponent wasn't attacking, but instead just defending to test Grey's skills. An ice tiger formed next to Grey. "Catch boy!" whispered Grey as he awaited and focused chakra for his next technique.

(Hyoton: San-sa no Dōbu~tsuen) - Ice Release: Sansa's Menagerie
Type: Offensive, Supplementary
Rank: S
Range: Short-Long
Chakra: 40 (-10 per turn)
Damage: 80
Description: Inspired by the animal themed jutsu of the Hidden Snow Ice Users, Skaldi's Menagerie is a technique used to combine a strong offense with environment altering affects. The user forms a set of four hand seals and focuses their ice chakra into the area directly in front of them, causing an animal of the user's choosing to appear. The animal exists as a perfect ice replica of its breathing counterpart, and is condensed with a great deal of ice chakra. The animal acts as a conduit for the jutsu's secondary effect: a large patch of ice (encompasses short range on all sides) is left on everything touched by the animal. As a result, the animal is quite dangerous to the touch and is capable of leaving a patch of ice in its wake to further assist the user. The user will be able to control the animal mentally, and as such can give commands to do things like charging the enemy or spread ice around the battlefield.
Note: Whilst active, the user is only able to use two jutsu per turn (and limited to Ice Release).
Note: Lasts a maximum of three turns and is usable twice, with a three turn cooldown.
Note: Courtesy of Inch

The ice tiger rushed towards the man who simply sighed in disgust of the level of Grey's attack. "Did you not realize ninjutsu won't work on me, stupid." The tiger lept towards the man and sure enough, as Grey expected, the man put his palm forward once again to abosrb the ninjutsu. Timing his already prepared technique perfectly, Grey lowered the temperature around his opponents severely and instantly, causing the very air they were breathing to freeze their saliva and nasal passages. This caused an excruciating pain to the men and prevented them from building up chakra, due to their focus being disrupted. The absorbtion technique failed this time and the tiger struk, tearing the men with his icy claws.

(Hyouton: chinou furi-zu) Ice Release: Brain Freeze
Rank-A
Range-Short/Long
Type-Offensive
Chakra-30
Damage-N/A
Description-
The Ice User focuses his chakra into the area surrounding the opponent, causing the air surrounding them to drop in temperature severely and instantly, causing the air they breathe to freeze the saliva(can also be breathed in through the nose with a faster effect because the nasal passages are closer to the brain) inside of the opponents mouth to the roof of their mouth, causing a painful brain freeze that prevents the opponent from thinking for a few seconds(about five) as they are in pain(prevents build up of chakra also due to the focus being disrupted)
*Can only be used twice*
*No ice can be used the next turn*
*Can only be taught Be Icemyster*

Grey got excited as he took out a katana and rushed towards the men. He couldn't see much of what was happening due to the dust and snow that were going up from the commotion. As he got closer, he saw the tiger biting the shoulder of the man with the Rinnegan, the other two were laying on the ground with blood around their necks. Grey jumped in the air readying his katana to deliver the final blow. He was wondering what part of the body to strike, to make sure to not kill the man he was trying to impress. The shinobi was right about one thing though, Grey had a big ego.

As he was closing in with his katana, Grey heard two words that sent shivers down his spine: "Shinra Tensei"

( Shinra Tensei ) - Divine Punishment
Type: Supplementary/Defensive/Offensive
Rank: S
Range: Short
Chakra: 40 ( +20 per extra range )
Damage: N/A
Description: Using the Deva Paths abilities to manipulate gravitational forces, the user will repulse and push away anything around him up to a given range, in all directions, producing an omni-repulsion effect. The force and repulsive effect is absolute, affecting both energy and matter alike. The technique itself can be used with different ranges/sizes, depending on how much chakra the user spends for the technique and can even, in its smaller form, be sustained, forming a static defensive field instead of a wave-like effect.
Shōkibo - Small Scale: the user will push away anything around him up to short range. The offensive power in this size is not that high as it hits opponents but can still do severe damage. It isn't, however, fatal, boasting a physical 40 damage. If the user focuses this ability with the help of his hands he can sustain a defensive absolute repulsive field around him. He can't, however, do any technique while he is sustaining it and he can only sustain it for 2 turns. Once used, takes one turn cool down to use gravitational related techniques again, becoming when the technique ends.

Chūkibo - Medium Scale: the user will push away anything around him up to mid range. The offensive power in this size is severe, sending opponents flying backwards with enough force to, if not defended properly, leave near fatal physical damage. Although not directly fatal, the technique boasts a physical damage of 80. If the user focuses this ability through one or both hands, he can push away a specific target or technique alone, instead of producing the normal omni-repulsive wave. Once used, takes 2 turns cool down to use gravitational related techniques again.

Ōkibo - Large Scale: the user will push away anything around him up to long range. The offensive power of the technique is devastating and anything in its path that doesn't manage to defend properly is left obliterated. Its fatal if unguarded, boasting a physical damage of 160. Using this techniques poses a great deal of danger to the user as he damages his chakra pathway itself to be able to mold sufficient chakra to perform it. Once used, the user loses the use of any gravitational related techniques for the remainder of the fight and is unable to mold chakra for Rinnegan techniques and S ranks and above for 5 turns.
Note: The technique is immune to normal Elemental Weaknesses and Strengths and as such can't be physically blocked, absorbed or dodged by becoming intangible or similar means. However, the enemies can still use techniques that reduce physical damage to their bodies to survive its effects or escape its range through a fast enough technique. This means that in the large scale, while the technique can't be stopped, avoided or directly countered, enemies can still manage to survive if they are able to reduce the damage done enough.
Note: can only be used by Rinnegan bios with the ( Tendō ) - Deva Path active

The force sent friends and foes alike flying in all directions. The ice shattered; the snowstorm died down, and the world around Grey had turned dark.

.

Grey woke up, still dizzy but could spot he was laying on a stretcher, and was being moved somewhere. His eyes were betraying him as he saw only black again for a moment. He was going in and out of conciousness but could see the man he was fighting, pushing the stretcher with one hand, blood coming down from the other one. The tiger's bite had done some damage. In the entire dizziness he could hear the man talking to him for a moment. "Impressive combo, it's been awhile since I've taken this much damage in battle." Grey closed his eyes, passing out again before a slap on his face woke him up. "I'm talking to you boy. Stay awake. You've earned my respect. We'll talk more when you wake up."

Grey passed out yet again, but this time with a slight chuckle on his face. His adventure was just beginning..

Mission: Choose between what is right and what is easy (B)
_____________________

Grey slowly blinked his eyes open. The light of the room hurt his eyes, as he tried to make sense of the surroundings. His body felt as if it was hit by a train. It felt heavier, with each movement causing him pain. He looked around. It looked like a medical wing of some sort. Then it hit him. His mind raced back to the battle, and the Shinra Tensei that had sent him flying. Just as the memories flooded in, a figure stepped into his line of sight. It was the same man that did this to him.

“Ah, you’re finally awake,” the man said with a smirk as he grabbed a chair and sat next to Grey. “I’m Sett. Impressive fight you put up there, even if it didn’t end in your favour.”

“You…took me alive. Why?”
asked Grey.

Sett brought the chair closer to Grey, “You tried to freeze my lungs from the inside,” he said smiling as if talking about the weather, "Your ice beast, teared through my men's jugular vein - quick death, yet he went for my shoulder. I wonder why?"

Grey remembered it well but was hoping Sett wouldn't have noticed that. After all his plan was to infiltrate the organization, not kill the man who could get him in. "I wanted to be the one to finish you.." lied Grey, hoping the man would believe him.

The man smirked. "I don't think so. You chose to maim instead of kill. Though as you can see we have quite the capable medical nins in our organization." he pulled up his sleeve, showing Grey his shoulder. It didn't even have a scratch.

Grey tried lying once more: "My katana was thirsty for blo.."

Sett interupted him softly: "You are lying,"

Grey’s heart gave a small, sharp kick.

"Relax. If I wanted you dead, you wouldn't have woken up here." said Sett

"So, why am I here?" Also where me I? asked Grey nervously.

"You know where you are."

"I don't."
Grey wished his voice was more confident.

"You are lying again. You are not very good at it you know." Grey didn't respond. Sett continued: "Ok I'll play ball. You are in the med-bay of our organization - Legion." Grey tried to look surprised when he heard the name of the organization but Sett continued: "Don't even try to pretend you don't know us. Why are you here you ask? Well, because I want you to join us!"

Grey was ecstatic on the inside. This was what he wanted - access to gather information for Samira. He tried not to convey his real emotions. He thought for a moment how to play this out. What to say? Does he play hard to get? or was eagerly accepting the way to go?

“Why would you trust me?” he asked quietly. “After I tried to kill you.”

Sett’s gaze didn’t waver. “Because I can recognize potential when I see it. And because I know where your loyalty really is.”

The room felt smaller suddenly, the air heavier.

Grey became more and more nervous "What is that supposed to mean?”

Sett leaned back slightly and crossed his arms. “You’re working with Samira of the Uchiha clan."

Agh, he knew it was too easy, infiltrating Legion that easily. For awhile no one spoke, as Grey pondered his thoughts. If the man really knew he was working with Samira, then he should have been trailing Grey for weeks now. No reason to insult his intelligence any more and lie to his face. Straight approach was the way forward.

"How long have you been following me? And why am I still breathing?" - asked Grey, now in serious tone.

"For awhile. And you are breathing because I see potential in you; potential that is wasted working for that scum." asnwered Sett.

"Scum? What do you mean? - Grey's interest was peeked.

"Well you probably know her as a simple healer who is good with illusions. But she is a cold-blooded killer. Do you even know what her favourite tactic is?" He didn't give Grey a time to respond. "She likes to shape orphans into disposable assets; usually kids but sometimes adults, then send them to die inconvenient deaths in enemy territory. People like you. She is using you."

“Shut up.”
The words were out before Grey could stop them. This wasn't the Samira he knew. In his eyes, she was kind and caring. She healed him numerous times and cared for the elderly in the village.

"Oh I bet she healed you and that's why you trust her. Right? You look like the type to barge straight on into battle. I bet you went into her healing tent, half dead and she put the life back into you. And now you think you know her?" Sett's voice got angry. "I've been hunting her for years now. I know what she has done; what she has taken from me! I know her for the monster that she is! I can tell you all about it. How she once burned to crisp 11 genin for not completing her tasks, how she butchered my men when they went to arrest her. How she..." He stopped before he could reveal something he didn't want to. He got closer to Grey, now calm as before. "Wherever she goes, death follows"

Grey’s throat felt tight. “You expect me to just believe you? Over her?”

“No.”
Sett’s answer was immediate. “I expect you to doubt both of us. But I’m giving you something she never did,” he said quietly. “A choice.”

He smiled at Grey, his anger now completely gone and continued: “You can leave when you’re strong enough to walk. I won’t stop you. You know the way out now. You can run straight back to her, tell her everything, let her pat your head and throw you into the next fire.”

Grey stared at him, stunned. "You’re serious.”

“Or…”
He leaned forward slightly “…you can stay. Under my supervision. Under our training. You’ll learn what your ice can really do. Not just flashy tricks and ice storms. Real power. And in time, you will see Samira for what she really is. By then, you'll be begging me for that Katana to kill her yourself."

Grey's mind raced to when he was with Samira. He remembered her soft smile, her warm hand on his shoulder when she sent him out on this suicide mission. Was she really a monster? No. "He must by lying" thought Grey. But what if he wasn't. Two opposing thoughts battle inside Grey's mind for what it seemed an eternity. The room was silent. No one moved for awhile.

"She saved me, you know" said Grey. "I owe her" Grey closed his eyes, trying to think.

Sett put his palms on Grey's shoulder. "You don't owe that twat, anything. That's her way. She will take what she can from you, and then toss you like a used napkin. And you will be dead!"

Grey stood silent.

"Think this through." said Sett as he finally got up to leave. "Ask for me if you wish to stay. You need to take a leap of faith with me, but I promise, it will be worth your while."

He was at the door ready to leave.

“And Grey,” he added without turning. “Samira is a cold-blooded killer. That doesn’t mean she never did anything kind. Monsters are rarely one thing or the other. Remember that, when you judge her...or me.”

The man shut the door behind him, leaving Grey alone in the silent room.

.

A day passed before Grey finally got out of bed. Torn. Not knowing what to do. There was no black and white anymore. Just shades of grey spreading through his mind. He had a choice to make. The right choice in his mind was going back to the woman he knew; who saved his life. The easy choice was staying here and believing everything Sett had told him. In the end it was a choice of who he trusted more.

Samira or Sett?

Grey walked to the door where a guard was stationed to watch over him. He knocked twice and a man opened the door.

"Bring me to Sett" said Grey, voice filled with confidence. "Let's see what this place has to offer."

The man nodded and both started walking up the spiralling stairs. Grey didn't know if he was making the right choice. He didn’t have to go back yet. He didn’t have to decide who to believe yet. He had time. This was easier. Blindly believing in her seemed like the right choice, but he simply....couldn't do it.
