They're not that important in this series, so it doesn't makes sense if kishi spends all his time improving the hyuga clan when the main characters need improvement... Besides hyugas are pretty powerful, they have the best taijutsu style, super x-ray vision, can see chakra points, can release chakra from any part of their body, have eyes range of near 360 degrees, their eyes also serves as a telescope... etc. If this isn't the definition of power then i don't know what it is.

Kishi actually apologized on the back of Chapter 541 on the latest volume. I don't remember it word for word, but he said that he was sorry that Sasuke and the Sharingan have been getting more panel time, but he did it unconsciously. He said he'll make the story focus on Naruto next time.
