I guess you don't understand Sasuke as a character or Naruto as a forgiver.

Sasuke was very instrumental to the war. Without him IT would have rid the Ninja world for good. The other ninjas would be walking Zetsus. He was crucial to putting an end to Kaguya's plan.

This by itself means that he is on the path of redemption. After his fight with Naruto he acknowledged that his purpose of living had been flawed and apologized to his team. You could clearly see a change in this guy, which is why Naruto stood up for him. It isn't wrong.
