IIRC, he countered zabuza because he luckily got his blood on zabuza's kunai prior to it being used. Can he get his blood on mei's kunai? No. She has none.

The second time he 'countered' the mist was by killing zabuza. He did that by getting a sensor to find zabuza for him. Does he have a sensor with him? No.

Kakashi has 0 ways of getting rid of the mist or finding her within it. Good day to you sir, your entire argument is destroyed.

Kakashi needed the blood for the dogs to know their target because he was surrounded by people- Asuma, Sakura, Naruto, Haku, Sasuke, Zabuza, himself i.e. lots of smells.

But here, it's only Mei and him so the dogs can track it.

And the mist obviously consumes chakra to use. Without chakra it disappears.
