Yea, I suppose it could still work out, but if he was sent on a mission by the Mizukage [Madara] then why didn't he know that Madara was the leader from the beginning?
Wouldn't he have known who Tobi was from the start?

and i love this idea its crazy awsome i used to think kisame was weak because they lead us to believe that but your right its silent but deadly he can sit back and act weak but really be a beast... remember when he fought guy the second time! they complamented his vast amounts of chakra because that clone only had 30% of his and he fought team guy head on!

also somone mentioned taht he stoped the 9 tails chakra from coming out when him and kisame found naruto at the hotel in like episode 60 or so of the anime and thats true naruto tryed to summon it and he ate it or his sword did... also he didnt look scared when he saw jiraiya in fact he looked like he would enjoy the challenge and itachi was all "dont you knwo who that is"

i think kisame knows who the 3 legendary sannin are considering one was in akatsuki before... MAD PROPS everyone who posted in this thread!!!

Hello alright guys i have writing this for about a straight week checking and rechecking if it is right for the last few days. Get Ready To be Amazed. Na just joking but i do rate it

I have never believed Itachi to be stronger member of the Itachi-Kisame duo. Kisame's questions to Itachi about his motivations are of a teasing nature and to me it does not seem like he follows Itachi because of the authority he has over him but rather out of curiosity to what this funny little blind guy is going to do next. When Kisame says Itachi is 'sooo ruthless' and we now know how Itachi really is and what his real goals are, don't you feel the sarcasm in Kisame's question? When he says it looks like Itachi is crying, doesn't it feel like he's making fun of him?

Also and this is the real point of the topic, let's not forget that Kisame knows Madara indirectly as the Mizukage and has a hidden agenda because he said when Tobi revealed himself that now his job is easier. If anything, all signs point to Kisame having been appointed to be a sort of guard dog keeping watch over Itachi.

I will explain this if you don't understand.

As we know Madara was secretly behind Akatsuki on a certain level, their Pain's guys but the organisation seems to be Madara's doing. When Madara found out about Itachi joining Akatsuki, he may have sent Kisame on a mission to become a missing nin and join Akatsuki he gave this mission to the most powerful and trustworthy ninja in the land of mist Kisame i think he was chosen for this important mission because Kisame saved Madara/Mizukage live or helped him when Zabuza lead a coup d'?tat with the other seven sowrdsman minus Kisame.

So when Kisame joined Akatsuki his second mission was to keep tabs on Itachi and perhaps Akatsuki as a whole. Madara would do this because he fears Itachi, as he is one of the few to be able to touch him. Then when Tobi reveals himself, Kisame is relieved and says that his job is easier now.

So Madara says Kisame was closest to him all along, yet we can't help but notice that he is a missing nin. Usually missing nin aren't exactly close to their Kage, right? Something doesn't fit in here, and Kisame being on an undercover mission sent by the Mizukage just might explain it.

I would not be surprised at all, if at some point when Kisame gets his epic battle, he will claim to be infinately more powerfull than Itachi. In fact when that happens I will link everyone to this post. Certainly Itachi is strong, that's undeniable and not the issue at all, but due to the Uchiha hype lately, perhaps people have closed their minds to the possibility that all along Kisame was intended to be stronger.

Seriously, when you consider this and go back to read the conversations between Itachi and Kisame they had in the past, you read them suddenly from a completely new perspective and they still make sense. This would be great writing on Kishi's part if he dared to pull it off.

Yeap I fully agree with you Kisame was getting smart about the Itachi in the rain crying; but it was like he was scared of Itachi when he was saying it. Kisame has way more Chakar then Itachi (Neji said so; when Team Gai Vs Kisame fight) and is way stronger then Itachi? But I do believe Itachi was the better fighter. Like in a 100 folds. He had (KEY WORD OF THE DAY ?Battle Experience?) Where Kisame made a big deal in battle making lots of noise, making a big seen? Where Itachi was the stealth assassin.

Kisame only found Madara was Mizukage after Itachi dead?

Kisame was the strongest member of the Seven Swordsman by far, seeing as Zabuza was [To my knowledge] the second strongest member of the Seven Swordsmen, which isn't saying much considering Kakashi took him out back when he was really weak.

Kisame is not weak.

Look at the akatsuki partners carefully, they are complementary to each other and work well.

Kakuzu and hidan are both short tempered immortals, as kakuzu says, he is the only partner he cannot kill when he gets angry.

Deidara and sasori are both OTT artists, and have the opposite views on art, but still like each others fondness of art

Kisame and Itachi-The strongest genjutsu user and the strongest physical ninjutsu user together.

Kisame and Itachi worked so well together because anyone who beat kisame in strength could then be genjutsu'd into submission, and anyone strong enough to beat itachi could be beaten into submission by kisame.

I cant believe some people thought kisame was weak.

The guy has the same or MORE chakra than naruto, neji said he had a "stupidly large amount of chakra" and thats only when he used 30% of his chakra, he created a mini ocean fighting team guy and still had enough left to fight them all head on, and tbh gai is pretty strong, he might not be able to form jutsus but hes a lot stronger than most jounin out there, and neji is smart too.

Facts are kisame used a buttload of chakra creating a mass load of water with no sweat, then he fought and had little trouble blocking against 2 JOUNIN AND 2 CHUUNIN.

After which he very quickly captured 1 jounin and 2 chuunin, and pretty much owned mighty gai without too much trouble.

Its only when gai released his 7 seals he got kisame, and kisame was only meant to distract them anyway, little point dragging out that move, im sure if it was his own life not some "puppets" he would have done his best to avoid or dodge it.

His sword eats chakra, just hit gai on the head with it and hes out.

also silent killing doesnt mean youre a better fighter, itachi isnt stronger because hes more stealthy, hes stronger because he has a sword that seals you away, a mirror that blocks any attack, and pretty much makes hand signs for jutsus faster than anyone in the shinobi world and has an IQ of 400.

But even with all that, kisame could give itachi many problems.

Im pretty sure kisame knows the ins and outs of his sharingan given that

1.hes itachis partner and
2.he knows madara, and most likely quite a bit about mangekyou and E mangekyou.

So itachis genjutsus from sharingan are out, amaterasu seems strong, but i wonder what it does if you have a BUTTLOAD of water on it, because kisame can make a LOT of water
