Kirin is classed as ninjutsu, ie not useful against Obito.

I swear there are like 50 threads about how Kirin can damage obito, yet no one has realised it's classed as a ninjutsu in the 3rd data book, page 247 (see naruto wiki). It makes sense that its ninjutsu considering sasuke uses his chakra to direct the lightning but never actually takes it in. Here's how the the wiki explains senjutsu ( I know anyone can edit it but its actually a good canon explanation):

Senjutsu practitioners learn to draw the energy of nature inside of them, blending it with their own chakra (created from spiritual and physical energy within the shinobi). This adds a new dimension of power to the sage's chakra, resulting in the creation of "senjutsu chakra" (仙術チャクラ, senjutsu chakura).

So because sasuke isn't blending his spiritual and physical energy with the lightning it isn't senjutsu and thus can't hurt obito. If anything it's most skmiliar to a nature transformation ninjutsu only difference being sasuke didn't transform his own chakra into lightning (instead uses the lightning already present).

Hope that clears up some confusion.

I would of never of thought that you know.

I'm not a sasuke fan but that lightning wasn't his chakra it was that flame dragon he created which made lightning naturally appear. Sure he used his chakra to control it. But that lightning isn't made up of chakra thus cannot be absorbed. Though I suppose i could be wrong

You said it yourself why it's classified as ninjutsu. As to how Obito will use this technique that nullifies "jutsu" to nullify a bolt of lightning I guess you can use your imagination for that. I don't see anywhere in the manga saying senjutsu is the only thing that can harm Obito.

It's most likely classed as Ninjutsu because he guides it with a very minor amount of chakra, but the actual attack isn't chakra or Ninjutsu at all..

Unless your saying of course that actual lightning from the skies = Ninjutsu.

Wouldn't an Onmyōden barrier render it useless anyway...?
