Pretty sure that was an ambush, and considering Minato is so good with S/T due to his reflexes, and was known for those reflexes (Mentioned during the Sasuke vs Raikage fight by C if I'm not mistaken) we have no clue just how good Tobirama's reflexes were, the only thing we know is that he knew S/T techniques, although it can be assumed they were good since Minato compared Tobi's S/T with his own S/T and Tobirama's as well, but even with that, like I said we don't know if his reflexes were anywhere near good enough to use S/T to the full benefit, especially if it was an ambush.

Was I talking about their kyuubi forms? No. And you really shouldn't be comparing Kinkaku's kyuubi form to Naruto's because it's obviously substantially weaker.
