*kefa came prepared, with his sword already held out*

Kefa: i'm glad on being your student.
It'll be a pleasure to teach you. ^^ So explain to me what kenjutsu is, and tell me everything you know about it. Also state a few people who have utilized Kenjutsu.

Kenjutsu basically means the use of sword techniques, so which means that a user of kenjutsu is some one who fights with his sword.

There are 2 types of people who use kenjutsu, we have the samurai and the shinobi. The samurai basically uses chakra for kenjutsu, when I say they use chakra, they channel their raw chakra through the sword to not only increase its cutting power but to also release blasts of chakra from it.

The shinobi are ninja's who also use kenjutsu but mix it up with other jutsu's...elemental chakra such as lightning, wind, and fire can be focsed through the sword, increasing its cutting and damaging abilities, the shinobi can also make use of genjutsu while yeilding a sword/katana, and also taijutsu, this is to better their chance at eliminating their opponents.

Users of the kenjutsu
Sasuke uchiha-coating his katana with lightning when he fights(a true shinobi)

Mifune-coating his sword with pure chakra(a true samurai)

Others
All samurai's
Hayate gekko
Hayate gekko's girlfriend.
Darui
Suigestu
Etc.

Very nice. Can you explain to me what free-form Kenjutsu is, and how it differs from normal kenjutsu?

Free form kenjutsu is refered to the free use of sword, in other words free forem kenjutsu is when the user uses his sword freely, without the knowledge of sword techniques.

For example a free form.kenjusu user will swing his sword horizontally from his left chest level to his right chest level, and proceed into a diagonal slash from his right chest level towards his left leg knee level, this isba free form kenjutsu.

The difference between free form and the true kenjutsu is kenjutsu are sword techniques, already made combo's that are used when wielding a sword...while free form kenjutsu is an immediate thinking/making up of combo's while using a sword to fight.

For example: a kenjutsu tech can be mixed with an elemental attack which is already formed and called a tech.

A free form kenjutsu can only be the swinging of swords and its the user's choice to add elements or not.

Correct. Free-form is just describing your movements and attacks without the use of an actual technique. This can be a good or bad thing depending on your battle situation.

-throws you a bokuto-

Catch and hold it.

*kefa sees the incoming bokuto and stabs his currect sword into the ground, before the bokuto reaches kefa, kefa stretches out his right hand and Catches it.*

Kefa: thanks sensei, I won't hurt myself that much thanks to this.

Your first lesson in Kenjutsu, and physical combat in general. Be specific! You catch it...okay? In what position are your hands currently at, and where? How are your feet placed?

*kefa listens as his sensei tells him to take a better stance*

Kefa catches the sword and take firm grip onto the handle with both hands, having his right hand above his left hand on the hilt of the bokuto, kefa gets into a comfortable and firm stance, with his right leg forward and the knee bent a little and kefa's right foot facing forward, kefa's left leg is slightly slanted but firm with the side of his left foot facing you, The sword is being held in a upright position.

Much better. Now perform a descending, vertical slash.

*while in is a firm stance, kefa raises his bokuto still with the grip of both hands, he raise the wooden sword over his head(as in the bokuto is slightly over his head ), kefa then pulls down the hilt of the bokuto causingt the wooden sword to follow, kefa pulls the hilt in a straight line, towards the opening of his legs, succesfully doing a vertical slash.*

In what position would you hold a sword to defend from one of these attacks?

I would switch immediately to an icegrip or reverse grip and then push my hands up, holding the bokuto in a horizontal form, so that the vertical slash will hit any part of the horizontal bokuto and keeping me safe.

Good. Now reset, and then perform a horizontal slash from the left to the right.

*kefa restarts the kendo form, and doing as he was told, kefa pulls the bokuto towards his left side, with the blade pointing outwards, kefa pulls the bokuto towards his right side(or kefa swings the bokuto towards his right side) successfully performing a horizontal slash from his left to his right.

And how can you defend from this type of attack?

if i switch into an icepick grip or a revaers grip, i would hold the hilt of the bokuto up to my head in a vertical position(blocking a horizontal slash coming towards my torso area), if i keep the bokuto with a normal grip i would perform a diagonal slash towards the horizontal slash, having them clash and preventing the horizontal slash causing any damage to me*

i love the reverse grip.

Now, let's attempt a technique and see how you fare.

First up..

(Ken Rendan no Jutsu) - Sword Barrage Technique
Rank: C
Type: Offensive
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 10
Damage points: 25
Description: With this technique, the user will make a sequence of slashes with their sword and finishes with a powerful final slash dealing liberal damage to their enemy.

This is a pretty lenient technique, there are no specific parameters of where you HAVE to strike them, so it's a nice technique to use when you need a basic technique to block/counter your enemy. For training purposes assume we have dummies set all over the field.

*kefa prepares himself for the technique having his kendo stance in position, and his bokuto in hand, kefa dashes towards a dummy giving it a horizontal slash from his left chest level towards his right, kefa then dashes towards the next dummy giving it a downward vertical slash, from his top right towards his bottom right, dashing towards the next dummy, kefa does a updward diagonal slash, from his bottom right towards his left top, this slash throws the dummy up in the air(mid range to the ground), kefa then jumps up to the dummy and stabs his bokuto at the chest area of the dummy and bringing it to the ground*

Try it again but instead perform all of the attacks onto one dummy. o_o
