Katon with Akihiko Sensei

Hello mate!
Now, proceed to tell me why you want to learn Katon and how you personally plan to use it...creatively in battle? xd

 

[Tao]

First of all I want to learn it because I am a member of the Uchiha clan, that is known for it's expertise in using Katon.
It also grants a strong offense because Katon jutsus, if powerful enough, can cover large areas with hot flames.
In battles I plan to use it for either directly attacking my opponent with Katon jutsus or as a diversion, since my opponent won't be able to see what I'm doing, when a huge fireball is between us. Later on, as soon as i trained Fuuton, I plan to combine both chacra natures to make the fire even stronger, because the wind will feed the flames. This also makes Katon an effective counter to Fuuton jutsus.

Ah, well said and very honest. I'll go over a bit of your points, if you don't mind. ^_^
-Katon has one of the widest scaling jutsus in Naruto, as you stated. In a battle, there's something called zoning, which basically means forcing your opponent to stay in certain areas so that you can manipulate him as you wish. With fire and earth, you can control the grounds, and with lightning, you can control the skies.
-You are correct about the diversion. Because it is also a wide scale jutsu, it can hide you, not to mention how dam loud it burns, blocking up any jutsus you may be hiding.
-Lastly, Fire is the best element to counter with. Say if you released a C-Rank Fire jutsu against your opponent's C-Rank Wind, then the fire would eat the wind, as you said yourself, and that makes the fire a B-Rank as a result.

Alright, I hope you learned a bit.
Proceed to come sit by me in this firecamp and observe the fire. Tell me how you think Fire chakra would flow in comparison to say...Earth chakra?
Also, what is fire's weakness?

I don't really know what I should answer (first training session ever )...
Do you mean after molding and, in this case, exhaling the chakra? I f yes, i think it flows kind of like a gas, whereas earth chakra should be solid.

If you mean inside the body, i think it would be warmer then earth chakra and maybe more fluent...


The weakness of fire is water. Water cools down the flames and smothers them.

Just be creative and you'll do well. o_o
Okay, do you remember what Asuma said to Naruto about Wind chakra?

 

[Tao]

Asuma told him that manipulating wind chakra is like splitting the chakra into two and grinding them to make them sharper.

 

[Adachi]

Very good.
Now, by taking that concept, how would you think Fire chakra would flow?

 

[Tao]

I think it is quite similar to that. But instead of sharpening the chakra it is heating up because of rubbing. (?)

 

[Adachi]

Yeah, the point is to be creative. ^_^ It's wild and very unstable, so get accustomed to such a flow in your own chakra.

Now, let's start simple. Remember how the campfire burned...and then focus the chakra from the inside of your body (as many of the jutsus will require inward chakra to start with) and build it up within your mouth to release a small fireball. Maintain the chakra and also form it in your body.

 

[Tao]

*I clear my mind and start concentrating. I try to mold my fire chakra inside my stomach. As I do that I feel the heat aswell as the wildness you mentioned. To keep control, I focus on my chakra even more. When the concetration of fire chakra is high enough,I gather it in my mouth and begin to exhale it, releasing a small fireball.*

 

[Adachi]

Very good. Now, proceed to aim that fire clone at my clone and describe the impact it has on him.

 

[Tao]

Allright!

*I clear my mind again and concentrate on my chakraflow. I mold my fire chakra inside my stomach and begin to feel the heat again. This time I'm more comfortable with it and it's easier to keep control. Then I gather the chakra in my mouth and exhale a small fireball, aiming it at your clone. As the fireball hits your clone, he ignites, begins to stagger and disperses.*

Alright, and next time, also state where exactly you aimed the clone.

Now, for this next one, do you remember what Sasuke did with Shurikens and Katon?
Proceed to light these shurikens on fire and toss them at my clone.

*I take some shurikens out of my pouch and hold them between my fingers. While I perform a swinging movement with my hand, I start to gather my fire chakra in my body and picture the burning shuriken in my mind. When the shurikens are about to leave my hand, I channel my fire chakra through my arm and hand into the shurikens, that I aim at the chest and throat of your clone. About midway to your clone my shurikens begin to burn, causing several small explosions when they hit him.*

Bang! That's more damage then caused by normal shurikens

Also, the fires should start spreading across his body...

Actually, no.
Let's discuss handseals first.
What do you know about them?

 

[Tao]

What I know so far is that they are needed to perform many jutsus and somehow they're related to the amount of chakra you manipulate in order to perform jutsus. If one is skilled enough, the number of required hand seals will be reduced (here at NB it's the specialty).
I also know that The Tiger hand seal is affiliated to katon.

 

[Adachi]

Very good.
So let's say your opponent had a jutsu that required five handseals, and your jutsu only required one. How does this affect you in battle when releasing your jutsus?

 

[Tao]

Assuming we would start using the jutsus simultaniously mine would be released earlier, meaning it's allready on the way when his jutsu is released.
In a situation where my opponent is attacking me, needing only one hand seal gives me the possibility to quickly counter his jutsu.
The other way around it would be really hard for my opponent to couter my jutsu because performing only one hand seal means my jutsu would be released very fast. He'd hardly have the time to perform five hand seals, depending on the range of course.

Well put. Keep in mind the timing whenever battling with someone else, especially how many handseals their jutsus require compared to yours.

Now, proceed to form the handseals of Snake → Ram → Monkey → Tiger, and focus fire chakra within your body. Remember how gas is formed, a bunch of molecules that bounce off of one another. Release the fire chakra in the form of gas, allowing it to travel a good range to my clone before you ignite it in a creative way.
