Sorry for the late response, now lets get begin. First thing I want you to do is to define the following concepts in your own words.

Shinobi/Kunoichi
Taijutsu
Genjutsu
Ninjutsu
Chakra
Five Elements

*Relationships:

*For the last thing concept, with relationships, I want you to tell me how each of the five elements relate to each other both in terms of opposition (weaknesses and strengths/when two elements are pit against one another) and in collaboration (when you combine elements to get stronger/new elements).

Alright senpai

Shinobi/Kunoichi: is any ninja skilled in ninjutsu, genjutsu, and taijutsu. Every Shinobi/Kunoichi have their own strengths and weaknesses, and are also ready to defend their village.

Taijutsu: is basic body techniques involving martial arts. It is relied on one's stamina and strength. It does not require chakra but chakra may be used to enhance the move that is being performed. Requiring no hand seals, just different stances and poses.

Genjutsu: Also know as illusionary techniques, genjutsu requires hand seals and chakra. It is used to disrupt the victim's flow of chakra in the brain, which results in the victim's senses being agitated. Once trapped in a genjutsu the victim can feel any type of pain even though they have not been hurt physically. The user can create images to fool the victim. To escape genjutsu the victim must cause physical pain to him/herself. Another way is to stop your own chakra than apply a stronger power to disrupt the user's chakra.

Ninjutsu: enables one to perform almost any technique that would normally be almost impossible to do. Ninjutsu mostly requires hand seals and chakra for a ninja to use a technique. Shape transformation and Nature transformation are two ways a ninja can manipulate his/hers chakra when creating a ninjutsu. Shape transformation deals with one maintaining the form, action and power of chakra. Nature transformation often deals transforming the physical characteristics of chakra into a element.

Chakra: is the moulding of physical energy. After moulding it can be channelled through the chakra circulatory system. There are 361 chakra points in the body. There diffrent ways to manipulate chakra, the most common one is through hand seals, which then enables one to use ninjutsu and genjutsu.

The five elements in the Narutoverse are Fire, Wind, Water, Earth, and Lightning. They are the basics of all elemental ninjutsus.

Fire (Katon)- Fire release is one of the five nature transformations in the narutoverse. It is created by forming superheated chakra inside the stomach before discharging it through the lungs and mouth.Fire release is common among shinobi of Konahagakure. Members of the powerful Uchiha clan have a natural affinity for fire release.Fire is strong against wind release because the air feeds the flame which results in a more deadly attack.Fire is weak against water release because the water extinguishes the flames, however strong fire can evaporate the water. Fire release has an advance version know as Blaze release which is possible through Amaterasu.

Wind (Futon)- Wind release is one of the five nature transformations in the narutoverse. It is formed by making chakra sharp and slender. It is rare among the five natures, having brute force, dealing slashing and cutting damage. Wind release can be channeled in weapons like blades and fans to increase good outcomes. Wind is strong against Lightning because it is a natural electrical insulator. Wind is weak against fire because it feeds the flames making the the fire more deadly. Wind can be used to power up water release, making it more damaging.

Lightning (Raiton)- Lightning release is one of the five nature transformations in the narutoverse. it enables the user to transmit lightning by increasing the high frequency vibrations of their chakra. An opponent that is hit with the electricity becomes paralyzed and is left for a striking blow. Similar to Wind release the user can transfer lightning into their bladed weapons by chakra flow, increasing the penetrating damage of the blade. Lightning release is common to ninjas in Kumogakure. Lightning release is weak against Wind because it is a natural electrical insulator. Lightning is strong against Earth because it can easily travel through and breach the ground. Lightning combined with water can increase the damage of the Lightning since water conducts electricity. Lightning becomes most powerful when infused with natural lightning. Black lightning is a special form of lightning release, only the Third Raikage and Darui can use it.

Earth (Doton)- Earth release is one of the five nature transformations in the narutoverse. It enables the user to control the surrounding earth, using it offensively or defensively. The user has the ability to harden or soften the earth around him/her. Usually by slamming there palms into the earth and transmitting chakra the or by the snake hand seal can utilize earth release or create their own. Earth release is common among the ninjas of Iwagakure. Earth is strong against water because the water is consumed by the earth making the attack less effective. Earth is weak against Lightning because the lightning can travel through the earth and make it crumble.

Water (Suiton)- Water release is one of the five nature transformations in the narutoverse. It allows the user to manipulate pre-existing water or create their own by molding their chakra into water. It is one of the most versatile of the nature transformations, not only able to change its physical shape but state also. When becoming more solid it can damage a ninja internally. Water release is common among the ninjas of Kirigakure. Water is strong against fire because it extinguishes the flames only strong fires can cause the water to evaporate. Water is weak against Earth because the earth absorbs most the water, resulting in a weak attack. Water with Lightning can increase the overall damage of the lightning since water conducts electricity.

Fire Release combined with Water release creates a corrosive mist the melts anything. It is the KG known as Boil Release.

Fire and Earth release combined creates lava. It is known as the KG Lava Release.

Fire, Wind, and Earth release combined creates dust. It is known as the rare Kekkei tลta Dust Release.

Earth and Water release combined creates wood. It is known as the KG Wood Release, only members of the Senju clan can use it.

Water and Lighting release combined results in the KG Storm Release.

Earth and an unknown element combined results in the KG Crystal Release.

Wind and Water release combined results in the KG Ice release.

Earth and unknown element results in another KG known as Explosion Release.

Wind and Fire release combined results in the KG Scorch release.

*Is this good senpai?*

Yes you did very well, now I'm going to give you my definition of these concepts, to add to your own

Shinobi/Kunoichi: Shinobi and Kunoichi are those who practice the art of Ninjutsu. In order not to confuse, I'll keep this in terms of the RP and in the Narutoverse. Generally you'll see shinobi from villages, clans, or solo. Shinobi in villages act as military soldiers and they carry out tasks for the village for payment. There are clans within villages (outside as well) and generally clans protect secret techniques, fighting styles, and or Kekkei genkai which are genetic based techniques. Solo shinobi may be from clans they may have trained indiviually but they may have also once been a part of a clan or village and have defected for breaking the village/clan laws. However the idea behind shinobi is that they are warriors who practice the arts of ninjutsu for whatever reason. They have their own philosophies, desires, ambitions, goals, motives, etc. They dedicate their training to something and as such depends on how they act. Traditionally shinobi are warriors that do what they're told without hesitation and without question. However shinobi are sentient beings capable of thinking for themselves. There are traditions that are to be upheld but you can't hold everybody to the same exact standards, which is why there are varrying personalities and tendencies of different shinobi and, often enough, reasons why some shinobi are defects.

Taijutsu: Though you are right that it's hand to hand combat, you are wrong that it doesn't require chakra. Taijutsu doesn't require chakra in the same sense as Ninjutsu and Genjutsu, taijutsu utilizes chakra in the sense of one's physicality. Their power, speed, endurance, physical feats all of this utilizes chakra. Taijutsu (in the general sense) doesn't require one to mold chakra as one would do in nin or genjutsu, but they use the physical properties (primairly yang) to push their limits of strength, speed, and endurance. The way shinobi find themselves exhausted after using multiple ninjutsu or genjutsu techniques is the same for how they become exhausted using taijutsu, they're using their energy.

Genjutsu: Genjutsu=illusion based techniques, techniques that attack the mind rather than the body. My personal favorite style of fighting (highly underrated in the RP) as I believe destruction of the mind is the most dangerous key. If you can control a person's mind, you can control them. The brain is the control center, the function of your entire body. It even controls your physical being if you think about it. If you destroy the brain, you destroy your opponent. You're opponent can't do anything without the mental capacity to think, even reflexes and impulses are controled by the brain. My point being, as genjutsu attacks the brain, it attacks perhaps the most vital point in you're body. You can render your opponent insane, cause them incredible amounts of pain without harming their body directly, torment their mind in various other ways. Mental incapability is just as, if not more affective than physical incapability. You are right about how gen works though, it disrupts the flow of chakra to the brain to allow the user to manipulate it to cause varrying affects.

Ninjutsu: Refers to a few things. As you said they are Ninja Techniques...however what specifically are ninja techniques? Don't Ninja use taijutsu and genjutsu as well? Ninjutsu refers to the ways of combat practiced by shinobi, just as Bushido and Iiado are the ways of the samurai (Bushido being a term like Chivalry, an honor code not necessarily a fightin style). In the terms of specifics ninjutsu utilizes chakra to create tangible affects as you said, but they can be for attack, defense, counter, or supplementary purposes alike. Ninjutsu like everything else requires chakra. You mould chakra to create the tangible affects.

Chakra: Is the life source of all living things. Everything from people, animals, and anything in nature poesses energy. To focus primarily on the Chakra instead of getting into Nature energy, Chakra is the equivalent to Xing (Japanese)/Chi (Chinese). It's inner energy and it's ballanced by physical and spiritual properties. Every form of jutsu (Tai, Nin, Gen) utilize both Physical and Spiritual chakra. Lets talk on Physical first. Physical chakra within Taijutsu refers to what I said earlier, strength, endurance, speed, and general physical properties. You're physically exerting your body and that requires chakra. In Genjutsu, believe it or not, you're physically using your chakra to disrupt chakra in the brains of your opponent. Though the affects are illusion based you exert physical use your chakra to channel it to your opponent to cause them illusions that affect the sense. See how that works? In Ninjutsu, as I said, it creates the tangible affects of the specific techniques. Now for spiritual, more difficult to understand the relationship between of spiritual chakra and Taijutsu, but not impossible. Physical discipline, pain thresholds. Look at Yondaime Raikage A, the man who cut off his own arm and didn't bat an eyelash. I practice martial arts and I understand the underlying affects of that. Through mentally calming and balancing yourself you can regulate pain in the sense of how it affects you. Shinobi can fight through pain and that is how spiritual chakra translates to taijutsu, mental balance and controling pain. For Genjutsu, the Spiritual chakra (Yin) comes from the affecting the mind. Once you have disrupted your opponents's chakra the spiritual affects that deal with the mind kick in. The second Mizukage professed his skills as a Yin Release User which meant Genjutsu so essentially the balance between Yin and Yang for Genjutsu is primarily Yin. For Ninjutsu you need the actual affects of what you're bringing into reality. You use the imagination/mind to concept the technique and then exert it physically and create tangible affects.

5 Elements: The Five elements or five nature releases are chakra within your body that hold to a specific element. The basics are Water, Fire, Earth, Wind, Lightning. Shinobi have a primary affinity, a nature chakra that is stronger within them then the others. Through training shinobi can learn to unlock and master other elements. Though it's a more difficult feat to accomplish. That being said, the more elements a shinobi possess mastery over generally means that shinobi is skilled because of the time, effort, and discipline they must of endured in order to master the other elements. The Five elements also have relationships to each other in the cycle of strengths and weaknesses (Example: Wind<Fire<Water). They also have relationships in conjunction and unity with one another to create various other affects (Example: Wind+Fire=Stronger Fire | Fire+Water=Boiling Steam)

Also another thing about the elements, even if they don't necessarily create new elements there are elements that complement each other. For example:

Lightning+Fire doesn't give you any new specific element but if you were to use Lightning+Fire in that order your opponent using wind techniques to neutralize you Lightning. Why? because if they use wind, they risk loosing to the on coming Fire. If you use Water and lightning, you also cut down on an opponent's use of Earth, the lightning will neautralize the earth essentially though I like the Lightning and Fire combo better.

Any questions?

Good, now we're going to talk about the element Katon specifically. I want you to:

What is Katon:
How Does this Nature Act:
What is Required For this Nature:
Relationships to other 4 Natures:

I want you to tell me (1) What is the element Katon as you know it (2) How does the nature act in terms of personification. What is the character of the element. (3) What is required for the nature in terms of what state of mind and body must you have to be in, in order to use and control. (4) This nature in relationships to the other four elements and you've already pretty much done that somewhat but remember that last example I gave you and think of ways you'd use Fire with other natures to get alternative results?

Whoops, I pretty much asked you to do that already. I mixed up one of the things I wanted you to define in your first post.....don't worry about it, since you already did that stuff, we can move on.

*I exhale a long stream of fire around you in a circle, where you're at the center, the flames are large but are at a safe distance from you so that you can feel their intense heat but not be burned*

I want you to sit and meditate. I want you to describe what you feel around you from the flames. Look at the fire, think about the properties of fire and let those properties resonate with your inner being. Relate the fire to you and how it connects to you're energy. This is to get you to understand the nature of fire first hand in order. To be able to use and control the element you must first be able to associate the element with yourself physically, mentally, and spiritually

*lays down away from the fire* I'll take a nap, I'll check in on you when you're finished.

*how was that senpai*

It was alright, I think you understand the feeling. Fire is alive, it breaths it spreads and becomes larger, just like your chakra. It's fast and powerful and hard to control. We can now begin. Now this method of training is a little different than standard Rank latter method, where you learn each technique individually climbing one rank to the other. What my two brillient sensei; Scorps and Lili have done has split each element into four or so different categories. Each element has techniques that repeat themselves in someway like streams, projectiles, etc, etc. What they've gone and done is created a new type of training where you learn to manipulate an element in the description of one category which gives you a general knowledge, then we post each jutsu that would use that method, with slight variation that would cause the jutsu to be unique from the others. For Fire the methods are as follows:

Method 1: Basic Projectiles
Method 2: Fire Streams/Constant Fire
Method 3: Alternative Releases (Ash, Gas, etc)
Method 4: Specific/Combos

So this means for this first method we're going to be learning, every technique we learn is a projectile of some sort, which requires you to manipulate your chakra in such a way that you create projectiles for all of these techniques, though with slight unique qualities for some. Now, before we begin I'm going to give you an opprotunity to ask my any questions you may have about the training or anything else. if not then we'll begin

Alright, here's what's going to happen from here on out. I'm going to preform the technique first and then I want you to imitate exactly what I do. We will do this until we reach the end of each method and I show you the jutsu. Now, after I show you the techniques from each method I'm going to have you do a little test where you will follow the template below:

  • Advantages of Method:
  • Disadvantages of Method:
  • Strategies to Use with Jutsu in Method:

2-3 Technique Combination using Jutsu from this Method.

Every method has a distinct advantage(s) and disadvantage(s) that every jutsu, no matter the unique complex of it, has so I want to see if you can identify them. Also you don't have tell me a strategy for every single jutsu in the method, you can tell me in a general sense or if there's specific jutsu you like, you can tell me how you could possibly use them in a fight. The last thing, is I want you to use the techniques from each method in mock move as you would in a real battle. If you have any questions about that ask me before we reach that point. You may other techniques from other elements or areas of the RP you've learned but I want at least 2 jutsu from each method used in a move, understand?

Alright, I'm going to give you a brief lesson on this. In the RP here, you're allowed to use a maximum of three techniques per move (post). In your move you're attacking/defending/countering/setting up better moves essentially. What happens is, each party agrees on who goes first and the person who goes first makes their opening move.

Example: Opening move
Ninja 1 vs. Ninja 2

Ninja 1

*Ninja 1 makes two hand seals the moment he sees Ninja 2 and he spits out a huge ball of flames towards his opponent.

T1:( Katon: Gลenkyลซ ) - Fire Release: Great Blaze Ball
Rank: B
Type: Offense
Range: Short/Long
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: 40
Description: The user after performing two hand seals Horse โ†’ Tiger exhales a meteor-sized sphere of fire that carries the enemy away and causes a massive explosion on impact.

After releasing the ball of flames, Ninja 1 claps his hands together and slams them on the ground releasing a current of lightning on the ground.

T2(Raiton: Ikazuchi no Utage) - Lightning Release: Lightning Burial ~ Banquet of Lightning
Rank: B
Type: Offense
Range: Mid/Long
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: 40
Description: The user brings their hands together and an electrical energy will begin to crackle around them. They will then slam their hands to the ground to send an electric current racing through the earth. When the current approaches its target, it can split into multiple tendrils to attack separate targets individually.

You can have a third move if you want but you don't have to. You can have from 0 to 3 moves youd do, one right after the other though. You can't do two jutsu at the same time.

In terms of defending and countering there's something called the timeframe rule. Basically you cannot make your move before your opponent makes his first move. Like Ninja 2 couldn't do an attack before Ninja 1 did his first fire technique. You have to wait until your opponent has started his move before you can do anything. so it would be almost like this.

Nin1 (T1)
Nin2 (T1)
Nin1 (T2)
Nin2 (T2)
Nin1 (T3)
Nin2 (T3)

You're basically intercepting moves in between so a counter to Ninja 1's move could go like this

Example: Counter

*Ninja 2 sees Ninja 1 begin to make hand seals and he prepares his own technique, channeling his water chakra and makes three seals, after Ninja 1 releases his Fire ball, Ninja 2 releases a large stream of water from his mouth, dousing the water and continuing on towards Ninja 1

T1:(Suiton: Mizurappa) - Water Release: Water Horn
Rank: B
Type: Offensive
Range: Mid
Chakra cost: 20
Damage points: 40
Description: After waving the Dragon โ†’ Tiger โ†’ Rabbit hand seals, the user creates a big jet of water that is launched from their mouth. This technique works exceptionally well with Lava Release: Quicklime Congealing Technique to help it become like cement.

See, Ninja 1 made his opening move and Ninja 2 made his first technique after his opponent's first, which follows the time frame. Now Ninja 2 was, was put Ninja 1 in a position where he would have to change his second move because if he continues to do what he did, he'll be hit by the water since Water>Fire so the water jutsu continues on even after making contact with the water. In the Timeframe, Ninja 2's T1 should get to his opponent before Ninja 1's T2 can reach his opponent. Now you're allowed to change moves in your next turn after the first one. Ninja 1 cannot however change his first technique

Example: Counter 2
Ninja 1 sees his opponent use a water technique which blows through his fire and continues on towards him, instead of using his lightning technique Ninja 1 focuses on his earth chakra and goes underground and avoids the water technique with:

(Doton: Moguragakure no Jutsu) โ€“ Earth Release: Hiding like a mole technique
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Long
Chakra cost: 15
Damage points: N/A
Description: The user changes earth into fine sand by channeling chakra into it, allowing the user to dig through it like a mole. While underground one can sense what is happening on the surface and use the information to launch a surprise attack on the enemy. Once can also hide deep in the ground, escaping to a depth where the enemy cant reach. It also appears that after digging, the ground can be returned to its original state, leaving no trace of where the user entered the earth.

See, Ninja 1 didn't stop his first move but he changed his second move when he saw his opponent using a water technique. So instead of risking damage he changes up the game plan. Battles are all about using your wits to outmove your opponent. When you see their move, try to think of ways not to just defend, but counter so that you can force your opponent to change up his strategy and/or get him in a position where he's uncomfortable and you have the advantage.

This is the basics of how you make moves here on Narutobase. For the sake of this training when I ask you to make combinations, act as if you're making an opening move.

Here's an example of a Battle by two fairly strong members here on the base if you want to look more as to how moves are organized here.

I know this is a lot, so if there's something you still don't understand or if I wasn't that clear, please tell me

The advantages/disadvantages part, do you want me to say for example
(Suiton: Mizurappa) - Water Release: Water Horn
Advantages it can extinguish fire styles , and disadvantages are earth style techniques

No, you only have to do an advantage and disadvantage for the method as a whole, not each and every jutsu within the category. Like I said, there are repetitive advantages and disadvantages for every technique within each method (with the exception of the last one) so I'm only looking for you to give me good traits and bad traits that every one of those techniques have. After reading the descriptions, you should be able to figure it out more or less.

Also, I don't want you to be so rudimentary with it. We all know Fire is doused by water and water is weak against earth. Going by the words of Kakashi Hatake

"A ninja must look underneath the underneath."

So you need to pay close attention, because there are those basic traits that are very obvious, then there are those traits that people don't always see right away. Then you have the traits that you only see if you truely pay attention and ponder about it. I'm trying to get you to that latter level of thinking, understand?

Alright, lets begin.

We're going to make just the basic fireball. I want you to concentrate on your fire chakra deep inside your body. Channel the chakra from your core up into your mouth. Just as you're about to exhale change the shape of the chakra so that you create a moderate sized orb/ball of fire. By turning it into a ball you control the flames so they're not all over the place and the fire being compact to some degree makes it fast.

Now, *tosses a wooden ball into the air in front of you* hit that target.

Okay here i go

*I imagine a ball of fire in my head and quickly concentrate on my chakra and channel it to my mouth while molding it into a fireball, I then shoot out the fireball aiming it at the wooden ball.*

How was that senpai....

*A small puff os smoke is release* -_-'' Uhh, not quite there yet. Try it again and be a little more descriptive as to how you go about the process. I like it when people describe a little more indepth to show they know it ^^ *picks up the ball and throws it up again* Try it agin.
