But it's not about the speed if you read my reasoning. Kamui distorts space either in transport or intangibility. Basically meaning, it attacks space since it forcefully distorts it or alters it. The weapon or object is a part of the space and Yata can process it as a regular attack. Since Yata can accommodate its defense no matter the nature of the attack, it should be able to repel it.

The problem is that people don't understand the word "space". Empty space, is actually not empty at all. Quantum effects constantly produce particles and antiparticles "out of nothing," only to have them disappear few moments later. And space itself can either be almost flat or curved, depending on the amount of matter it contains. So if space contains matter and objects, Yata would be the part of that space. Which means if Kamui alters the space of which Yata is a part of, Yata could process it as attack and "deflect" it.

Long ranged Kamui also isn't bypassing Yata because the latter acts as an invisible wall. It would be like saying if a wall were to be placed between Kakashi and his opponent, then Kakashi would still be able to Kamui past a wall and to the opponent, which clearly won't be the case since there is a blockage in the way. In the case of the Yata, it's an inter-dimensional blockage. Kamui has to go through Yata first before reaching Itachi, and that won't happen when the Yata can specifically repel those kinds of jutsus. In other words, the Yata Mirror is an astral repellant.
