The 8th gate is called the gate of death, as soon as it's open, he'll die pretty much right away. That's why he needed to kill madara as soon as possible before he collapses and died. The reason why he didn't die until he used those techniques was for us readers to see what hes capable of. Point is, He died roughly in 2-5 minutes.

Obito would have to warp himself or gui to the dimension before gai uses the eighth gate. Other than that gui should be able outspeed obito easily imo. Although if kumai could last roughly 5-10 minutes of constant use then obito would win. This battle would be who could outlast who imo.

Nothing to prove tbh...nothing in the manga suggest Gai didn't last 5 mins...I don't have to prove anything because I didn't assume anything in the first place..if anything, you have to prove it doesn't last 5 mins with manga facts and scans
Also, their fight was off paneled...we saw how Madara was pretty messed up and how tired everyone was when we returned..doesn't look like something that took 5 mins...anyways I'm not jumping into conclusions..you just prove to me that it doesn't last 5 mins with facts and scans

Your right about assuming but its likely that gai didn't last over five minutes. The gates put a huge amount of stress on the body and to do even 5 minutes is a stretch. Didn't kakashi comment on the gates when lee first used them in naruto. I can't really see gai using the 8th gate for 10+ minutes tbh.

Obito wins it. Obito cannot not only let attacks pass through him but he can phase through the ground and attack from underneath it. Granted, pulling off an attack against Gai he has to have some killer reflexes in 8 gates so Obito will just outlast him with Kamui by careful usage.

Obito activated Phasing faster than Madara could hit him from point blank range, and guy has no continuous attacks that let him keep obito phasing for 5 minutes at a time. Evening elephant only lasts a few seconds and causes guy immense pain, and night guy is strait up suicide.
