he killed Obito's closest friend, as all of his friends are dead, and it's Obito's sharingan (p.s. how he got it would've been a WAY better filler than whatever was just the filler that i didn't watch)

U get mngekyou if u already have a regular sharingan and u killed your best friend in part 1 he told team 7 some of his best friends were killed in action and since obito dies saving kakashi he was able to unlock mangekyou but since it wasn't his original eye he also had to train hard

He says training, but I think it goes with Obito because they were friends and Kakashi blames himself for Obitos death. So after so much guilt, it awoken. His best friend died, and it was his fault in his opinion, so it awoken. All my opinion.

He probably has had it for quite some time, but since hes not an Uchiha, has had a much harder time mastering it, and only recently has gotten a handle on it.
