I think there were some threads about this, so this is what I think, kakashi got his sharingan from Obito Uchiha in the third great ninja war, obito wanted do give him his sharingan when he was crashed by a big rock. The two of them wanted to save there companion (Rin). she's a medical ninja from their team leaded by Minato Namikaze. Rin put obitos eye in kakashis eye (than was hurt, he even now has a mark from it) . Cuz it's kind of Kakashi's fult ( I don't really think that) Obito diead ( his best friend) and itachi said to awake your Mangekyo u need to kill your closest friend, that's why Kakashi has mangekyo. But he needed power to awake it so he did it when Naruto was with Jiraya. He probubly trained. :kakashi: That's all !

A sharingan user doesn't need to kill his/her closest friend, someone close to a Sharingan user must die and the emotion of the loss is responsible for its unlocking. That doesn't even mean that, the specific person IS dead its just an emotion that the Sharingan user feels.
Although it hasn't been stated anywhere, I think a Mangekyo has to come from a 3 Tomoe Sharingan, so IF I put your theory to the test against that, then shouldn't have Kakashi got his Mangekyo as soon as he unlocked the 3rd Tomoe for his Sharingan?
Also if you want to find out who Kakashi felt the loss of, just look at the time skip period and who died in that time skip. Though that's not an easy task, and the person lost wouldn't be recorded.
Another way of him unlocking Mangekyo could be that Obito's closest person died, considering it's Obito's eye. But now that I think of that, that wouldn't be it because Obito is dead and wouldn't be able to feel any feelings because of that. [Unless he isn't dead, though I'm about 99% sure that Obito IS in fact dead..]

haha i agree with sharpism ...... it seems like the tomoe are achieved when an uchiha goes thru an emotional breakthrough (like the first time sasuke faced orochimaru)

Who said Obito is his best friend? I personally think he shares a better relationship with Gai, Sasuke, Naruto, Yamato/Tenzo, or even Jiraiya. It is likely that we didn't see his best friend.
I did more thinking about the 3 Tomoe theory and I dont see why anyone would actually need all three tomoe to get a Mangekyo, it just means that you'd be missing some of the powers. IF;
1Tomoe = Power 1
2Tomoe = Power 1+2
3Tomoe = Power 1,2,3
But I don't see why it'd affect the Mangekyo itself if you only had 2 Tomoe and not 3. If this is true the Sharingan's powers are the same as Mangekyo [Seeing things slowly, ectect.] But the Mangekyo is just a step up from the sharingan. It doesn't say anywhere that you need 3 tomoe to get mangekyo

so maybe if the sharingan is transplanted they do not need someone to die to achieve it.although i think it may be the theorie of obito death's.and the reason kakashi never used it in the first part was because he didn't had enough chakra
