Here I will post everything I know about Kakashi's hype and portrayal. Due to the limited number of images one can put in a single post, I'll divide the collection in four parts, each one about a different version of Kakashi over time during the manga. Well I hope it will help people to debate properly and to learn things that they didn't know.

Kid Kakashi (someone who completed the Ninja Academy at 5yrs old and the Chunin Exams at 6yrs old and at no more than 10-12 yrs old was a jonin and could learn Rasengan and from that even create Chidori by himself) is portrayed as a talented genius who can fight even an invisible opponent, by feeling variations in the air current to track his movements.
Kid Kakashi's speed is praised by a seasoned Iwagakure jonin who is impressed, and Kakashi himself underlines how fast is he when he is attacking with Chidori dashes.
Kid Kakashi's talent as shinobi is praised by Minato, and surprises and impresses a seasoned enemy jonin.
Adult Kakashi in
With his actions before the Start of Part 1 (so mostly in his days as an Anbu probably), Kakashi made his name famous along the ninja countries, and the legend of "Kakashi of the Sharingan" was born.
Kisame praises Kakashi's skill in the usage of Mizu Bunshin no Jutsu to counter Itachi's Kage Bunshin no Jutsu.
Part 1 Kakashi was hyped as the best ninjutsu user in Konoha, even above the Third Hokage who has the "Professor" hype.
Part 1 Kakashi was portrayed as far more powerful than Kabuto. Kabuto, even as an arrogant person, was afraid to fight against Part 1 Kakashi, running away even when Kakashi openly challenged and taunted him. I guess someone will bring Jiraiya and Orochimaru's statetements about Kabuto and Part 1 Kakashi being on the same level, but they have no value, frankly, as Orochimaru and Jiraiya were far from Konoha from a long time so they couldn't exactly gauge Kakashi's power level, and Jiraiya didn't even know Kabuto's since he never met him before. Not to mention that by feats Kabuto is outclassed by Part 1 Kakashi, who is much faster plus has Sharingan precognition, better taijutsu, can use 1000 ninjutsu, can fool him with Kage Bunshin and kill him with a Raikiri that he can't heal from; and Kakashi also has a better portrayal if we gauge his other accomplishments compared to Kabuto's (Kabuto was troubled by Naruto, he understimated him and everything, but he had trouble). And the fact that Kabuto ran away from Kakashi speaks louder and clearer than everything.
It's worth note that the same Kabuto who was portrayed as below Part 1 Kakashi, as he didn't dare to fight against Kakashi even if the latter openly challenged him, could fight against Tsunade and even with the luxury of not having any killing intent and not being serious for most part of the fight.
Itachi praised Part 1 Kakashi's mastery of the Sharingan as better than most of the pure blood Uchihas.
Part 1 Kakashi is portrayed to be not that far from Kisame's level, as it was stated by Itachi that a fight against Part 1 Kakashi would be very tough and difficult for Kisame, and even if he would win he will receive heavy wounds (and it's not like Kishimoto didn't think about Kisame's strength, because Itachi warned him do not ever use his "big flashy jutsu", clearly referring to things like Dai Bakusoi Shoha, Senshokuko and Daikodan he showed later in Part 2). Kisame will also refere to Part 1 Kakashi as a worthy opponent, compared to Asuma who he was fighting previously.
Zabuza hyped Part 1 Kakashi for having copied 1000 techniques with his Sharingan, and Kakashi is portrayed as an exceptional shinobi in the same boat as the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi.
Kakashi's main technique: Raikiri. Hyped for the power of his chakra. Hyped for Kakashi cutting a lightning bolt with it. Hyped for power and the speed of the attack. Kakashi is also hyped again as the best ninjutsu user in Konoha.
