Kakashi's only advantage over gai is his intelligence and versatility in ninjutsu in all honesty

In a spar yes. If they would fight to the death and not hold out Gai would ream Kakashi's anus. We've seen Kakashi go all out and we've seen Gai go all out. Gai is stronger. I have never seen Kakashi punch the air and make a mini atomic bomb, or anything on that scale.

Sharingan can predict Gai's movements. Kakashi is fast enough to keep up with Gai and kakashi can also use gates ms ninjutsu and genjutsu. Kakashi is more versatile than Gai which would give him the win.
