Unable to give details of his abilites but he was consider to be near the skill level of the Sannin. Kakashi might be skilled but going up against ninja that are Sannin or S-Level skilled (Orochimaru, Jiraiya, Tsunade, Akatsuki, and ect.) might be difficult for him.

Exactly this dude knows what he is talking about and it says on the same level as the Sannin in the manga.

Wow so many people underestimate Kakashi. The White Fang was not that strong the 3 Legendary Sannin were much weaker back then Tsunade didn't unlock her seal, Orochimaru never learned Forrbiden Jutsu like a mad man, and J-man never showed anyone his SM.
