I am not talking about an actually physical battle,it's more like a Justu battle..
When Tobi came to meet sasuke,zetsu,kakashi,naruto & sakura after sasuke had killed Danzo...Kakashi wanted to use his MS on him then Tobi(who had not for once feared any justu) told kakashi not to try it becoz it won't work on Him..

They both have the same justu only that kakashi can telepot things but not himself while tobi can telepot himself but not things(not like kakashi,coz he telepots the thing with himself)
Now kakashi opens a space time worn hole that sucks U into another space or maybe time & Tobi uses a space time justu to open a hole that telepots him to another location..
I think tobi knows that kakashi would send him to another place with that justu Because tobi has never in the manga told anyone not to try something on him,He justs likes showing off...I think that if tobi were to try to telepot when kakashi opens a space hole he will get sucked in,It's like a Bigger space hole sucking a smaller space holeTobi telepots into a smaller space hole while that Hole is sucked in by a bigger space hole with a bigger Pull forceU_UBut the timing has to be rightU_U

kakashi just wanted to kamui the base of the arm so he wouldn't use too much chakra. its like something cuts deidara's arm.
the smaller the object the less chakra is used.

that was because he failed,he said himself ,it was his first time and he cound't properly control the location and the size of the barrier limiting the area.he fixed that problem with pein's missile and the big susanoo arrow.

Whe tobi is not solidify,he can still get sucked in coz kamui is not a solid contact justu,if tobi is not in his solid form then he should be in a space form with can be sucked in by a bigger space form...

if tobi teleports himself once he becomes solid then he needs do wait 5 minutes to be intangible again and thats the time when kakashi can kamui him.
tobi uses body flicker jutsu just like shisui its not like minatos FTG where he instantaneously teleportes himself to another place.

edit: kakashi couldn't use kamui because tobi is intangible and its like he wasn't there so kakashi cant kamui him.

when he isn't intangible he can't teleport so...kakashi can only kamui tobi when he is solid and if he is solid he cant teleport.

You said tobi cant teleport things? He teleported danzo subordinate, he did the same to sasuke at the kages summit. Tobi's is able to teleport himself and anything or anyone with his sharingan.

As someone has pretty much said, Kamui sends its target to another dimension, however Tobi uses his technique to send himself to the same alternate dimension all the time and then reappear back in this one therefore even if he got hit with Kamui he'd be gone for about 10 seconds until he reappeared back.
