Gai has mad endurance, kakashi doesnt. if the battle was going to be drawn out gai would win.

Kakashi has MS, Guy knows how to avoid genjutsu,
Kakashi's sharingan has limits as to how fast it can operate, can't accurately count the amount of attacks FRS has, gai just has limits as to how fast he can get w/o killing himself.
guy can use ninjutsu as well, maybe in a desperate situation he will use something like his summon, but i doubt that very much.
i would have to say Gai for this one. kakashi gets too much screentime neway

Gai would win in the end, as if he was to really go at it to try and kill kakashi he would release all the inner gates including the 8th (death gate) and thus become "stronger that the hokage" so if you take that into account and also the facts that every gate he releases seems to make him stronger, faster, have more powerful attacks, and that he could release enough gates to defeat a weakened kisame with ease. Kakashi may have his M' sharingan and the thousands or techniques that he has learned but never shown, but if gai released all the 8 gates he would likely be as powerful and fast, if not more so, than the raikage. Now remember when kakashi during the chuunin exams said that releasing the 8 gates would make the user more powerful than the hokage? well at the time the hokage was the 3rd, who was called the professor due to the huge number of jutsu he knew, so lets say kakashi knew roughly the same number of jutsu, that would mean that if gai released all the gates, it would make him more powerful than kakashi or the 3rd. So yeah, might gai would defeat kakashi in a 1v1 battle to the death.

First of all idk if Kakashi said this, i think he said at kage lvl. But anyways, kakashi didnt know the powers of the 3rd and the 3rd was old so thats a bad way of looking at it. Another thing is that when Guy opens the 8th gate he wud die anyway, and Kakashi can catch a lightining fast arrow with his MS and also he uses clones to fight, then can hide and use the MS or even Rikiri when Guy is of guard, and he doesnt have to get close to hit him with a fast lightining attack! There is also no proof that Kakashi can only open 1st gate. The only thing i agree with you about is Guy's 8th gate speed and strength being at least the Raikage's but Guy wud take a lot of damage and can be caught off guard, he also doesnt have lightining armor etc.

Man, you are putting them on equal lvls, Kakashi is a kage lvl jonin og konoha not guy, Kakashi has been shown remarkably genius at every sort of ninja tactics, i.e. taijutsu, ninjutsu and genjutsu + he is a sharingan user giving him an edge over taijutsu
AND can you tell me a single main fight in which Kakashi got hit in the beginning and was the real one, not at all.:flaw:
So, how can you assume that when guy is gonna hit him with any jutsu Kakashi would die at the spot + once his gates based techs. end Guy won't be able to walk on his own......

There's nothing we can say confidently about Kakashi coz he is KAKASHI
and yes he opened only 1 and I can't say he can do more but Kakashi wins w/o gates, though.......
