According to the most recent chapter, Kakashi should not been able to achieve MS. It stated that sharingans are activated by special chakra in the uchiha brain being released to activate the eye. This makes a lot of sense since MS is activated when they kill the closest person to themselves. Which in turn should release a much higher concentration of chakra from the brain. This means that Kakashi can only achieve MS in 1 of 2 ways:

1. He recieved an eye which already had MS activated (which he didn't)

2. He is uchiha and his brain can release the special chakra through emotions (which he isn't)

After reading this chapter, I do not see how it is possible for Kakashi to have unlocked his MS while he was in possession of it. Possible plot hole or am I mistake?

I think it's going more towards the path of..

Everyone's brain will secrete this chakara when they "lose love", however, when combined with the Sharingan, it improves itself drastically. Chemistry, essentially. Two things that when separate, are of no consequence. Together, they become the Mangekyo.

This does raise the question.. How did Madara really awaken the Rinnegan then?

He received an eye that has Uchiha DNA. He experienced PROFOUND trauma in killing his own teammate, and not to mention, someone he promised to protect - a promise to a friend that was believed dead. That, and because he and Obito experienced the trauma at the same time.

Did you pay attention to what Madara said to Obito the chapter before he awoken his MS? He told Obito that he had to have both his eyes to awaken its true power. When Obito came into close contact with Kakashi, Obito still had a connection with the eye he gave Kakashi to the point he was able to see out of that eye. When Obito gained the MS he gained it for Kakashi as well. Kakashi didn't awaken the MS. Thus makes what Madara stated true.

well by that logic it makes no sense that he can use sharingan, or use the ms. Simply once the sharingan is unlocked, if transplanted, a non uchiha can unlock the various stages, IF they can feel the same grief as an uchiha.

Thanks for that. (not sarcasm) I did not actually remember that until you mentioned it.

From what I read, it sounded to me like it was strictly "uchiha" that has this chakra. So I don't see how that argument can hold up.

But you do raise a good point about Madara awakening his Rinnengan. Its obvious he also needs to produce Senju Chakara and Uchiha to make it work since he needed Hashirama's DNA to do it. Maybe he needs to experience something else as painful if not more. To throw a wild theory at this I would suggest maybe his hatered and rivalry with harashima turned into a relationship of some kind for him and it was in his death that he gained the rinnengan

Yes but he does not have an Uchiha brain that excretes Uchiha chakra

They said that the Sharingan was activated by a special chakra in a Uchiha's brain that activates the sharingan. When Kakashi received the Sharingan it was already activated. As for MS, Kakashi's eye was still linked to Obito, remember in that chapter where Obito was headed to Kakashi and Rin's location, he could see through Kakashi's eye? I think because of this it was still possible for Obito to awaken that eyes MS.

Valid point. + rep

[Edit] Spoiler Alert!!!

Mangapanda translation: "When Uchiha suffer after experiencing the loss of a loved one or dispair...special chakra sprouts inside their [Uchiha] brains which affects the optic nerve and produces a change in their eyes."

Its one of two things:
  1. Only Uchiha brains produce this special chakra. Which leave us with a minor plothole.
  2. Or, everyone's brains releases this special chakra. Only difference being that Uchiha brains produce more of this special chakra because of their tendency to love more intensely and thus, experience loss more intensely. Which means there's no plothole here.

Also, I'm assuming that only Uchiha eye's are affected by this "special brain chakra"
