Minato would have made the choice of not rescuing Rin.
Obito wanted to blame Minato during kyuubi attack , and Minato died.
With Minato's death he realised that " it's pointless to blame this useless reality" ( like Tob says in this chap ), he will destroy it , having heard something about a big genjutsu that works well for that standard purpose.

they will show it in next chapters as a mystery that Obito doesn't knws or as a flashback like naruto does of same scene for about 100 times
