Kakashi Hatake's Mangekyo Sharingan

My theory is that Itachi Uchiha gave him the ability when he was under Tsukuyomi, and that is why his resembles a pseudo-version of Itachi's. Remember, it's established that Itachi Uchiha can give other people *powers* which was seen when one of his black crow's went up Naruto's throat, and Itachi said he hoped he wouldn't use it on Sasuke.

What do y'all think?

Well Itachi would have had to have that power first, which he never demonstrated so I don't think this is possible at all. I think you can get MS just by witnessing a close friend's death, not just by killing them.

I don't think so. Wouldn't he have noticed it before the end of part 1 instead of him just showing it in part 2. Kishi really needs to show us how he got it.

maybe its the feeling that a close loved one has died and you feel its your fault... in the beginning it was rather literal but maybe, in Kakashi's case, he just feels that he was responsible...

no i dont think thts the case coz when kakashi was telling itachi when we were at the save garaa eps itachi was surprised when kakahsi said how much bad has ur eyesight been or sumthing lyk tht then itachi was lyk kakashi you couldnt possibly he was shocked and though tht kakashi might also have the ms

I think Kakashi killed Obito's best friend (it's Obito's sharingan, after all). It makes the most sense here, as there are no plot holes here, as we know so little about Obito, we don't know who his best friend was, even though it doesn't seem like Kakashi to kill someone just for power, maybe he didn't realize who it was when he killed him...

It can't be that simple. You have to personally end the life of the person closest to you. The Uchiha have been around for years and during the Uchiha slaughter, Itachi told Sasuke that if he could unlock MS, then he would be the third to unlock it, aside from Madara and himself. People die everyday... If all an Uchiha had to do was witness the death, wouldn't nearly everyone have MS?


But aside from that, Kakashi's been around for a while, he's been around the block. When he talks about revenge to Sasuke, he mentions that all of his friends have died/been killed. Now, Kakashi seems like a pretty likable guy to me. Maybe the sheer number of friends that he's lost may have in a way unlocked MS for him. But hey, just a thought.

kakashi is non-uchiha and killing his best friend may not apply to him in unlocking the ms. i think kakashi is smart enough to have figuared it out without doing such a thing. just look at danzo who is non-uchiha yet he was able to do izanagi and no one ive seen besides madara can use that.

Kakashi might have been related to the Uchiha, and as for the loss of a friend, one of his nin-dogs might have died T_T
