Background info:Well, I'm just gonna type everything I know about Kakashi from the very beginning to now. That should be fair yes? Kakashi is from the Hidden leaf village. He was made a jounin at age 13. His father committed suicide causing Kakashi to live his life by the rules and always completing the mission.
One day Kakashi went on a mission with his team under the command of Minato Namikaze. With his teammates Obito Uchiha (Kakashi's best friend) and Rin. The mission was to prevent the enemy from destroying a bridge. On the way there there was a confrontation with ninja from the hidden stone village. This is the part of the story where Obito said his famous words to Kakashi "Those in the ninja world who break the rules are scum, that's true....but those who abandon their friends.. are worse than scum.." Of course Obito was referring to rescuing Rin. Kakashi had a change of heart from those words and decided to go after Obito and help him save Rin. They went into a cave and one of the Stone used a earth style jutsu and collapsed the cave in on Obito crushing his entire right side of his body. Obito then used Rin's medical Ninjutsu to take his sharingan and implant it into his left eye as a "Jounin promotion present". Pretty BA huh? Kakashi then got cut after putting his sharingan in his left eye socket on his left eye. That explains the scar on his left eye. Kakashi then used his Chidori and killed the stone ninja. A little help from the future 4th hokage was also used in the mission.
Later years, Kakashi became the leader of team 7. In the introduction Kakashi said "I'm Kakashi Hatake. Things I like and things I hate... I don't feel like telling you that. My dreams for the future... never really thought about it. As for my hobbies... I have lots of hobbies." With Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura. Kakashi was very hard on them with the training. It was necessary, It was for the best. After training and passing the training exercise, the team took on a mission to escort some old guy (lol) and were confronted by hidden mist assassins. Kakashi used his intellect to know that they were there by looking at the puddle and realizing that's where they were hiding, giving him time to fake his death with a substitution jutsu. Then he waited for an opening. Thanks to Sasuke, Kakashi was able to defeat the assassins. In the midst of the fight Naruto was poisoned. Naruto then stabbed himself to let himself not be a burden to the team and get the poison out. Kakashi then said another one of his famous lines "Naruto it was really cool and all how you removed the poison.. But, if you don't stop bleeding, your going to die."
The Zabuza arc. Kakashi first noticed Zabuza when Naruto revealed a white bunny. Kakashi then knew it was a substitution jutsu and there was an enemy nearby. Zabuza was trying to capture the old man (Tazuna). Team 7 was not about to let that happen. Kakashi finally revealed his sharingan. Zabuza then fights with Kakashi and uses his sharingan to copy his water clone jutsu. Another Kakashi fake death moment. Cool. Kakashi then gets captured in Zabuza's water prison jutsu. Sasuke and Naruto released him. Kakashi then temporarily beat Zabuza with his own jutsu. Courtesy to the sharingan. Later, Kakashi and Zabuza met again. Kakashi used his intellect to LET Zabuza cut him with his sword so he could get the smell of his blood on it. Kakashi then summoned his dogs and found Zabuza in the thick mist. Kakashi then used his one and only original technique. Lightning blade! Unfortunately Haku stepped in the way and Kakashi killed him instead of Zabuza. Later, Kakashi used multi-shadow clone jutsu to scare off the bad guys. Mission accomplished.

Other: Kakashi became a member of the Anbu and learned from Chouza Akamichi. And HE attributes Kakashi’s success to his approach at battles: Avoiding direct combat by using misdirection and clones until he is able to determine his opponents skills, then at which point he modifies his tactics to fit his current situation.
