I say Kakashi due to him being a well rounded ninja, but Guy's Eight Gates is the changing factor. He activates the 5th gate or higher....and it's done.

Gai aint the only one who can open gates. Kakashi can open em too. Gai is just too quick to resort to that. We hardly ever see Kakashi open the gates because he is such a skilled ninja that he doesn't need to do it. Gai on the other hand has nothing. If he can't land a punch, he automatically resorts to gate opening. Smooth.

Now, the question becomes:
Who would win? Kakashi (after he opens the 5th gate), or Gai (also after the 5th gate)

I think Kakashi would pretty much just become a speeding entity of Raikiri. Gai would get his ass handed to him on a silver platter.

I say Gai cuz speed beats tactic, Kamui needs the object to be still and Gai is to fast. That's a fact.

Kakashi has so far showed to open only the first gate while Gai has already opened the seventh gate,don't underestimate both sides.

kakashi cant open up to the 5th gate i think the max is 3 for him but im not 2 sure but ido know kakashi cant open as much as gai

This is very true. I guess my final answer would be Kakashi (stipulation being no gate opening by either party) And Gai if they're allowed to open gates.

But c'mon.. can we really compare ninjas to super saiyans? No.
