In the manga kakashi is going on about rin and obito, which it doesnt cover that much of in the anime, rins been mentioned a few times, if that, obito even less, i dont think even once.

Kakashi gaiden going to anime just serves as an "info boost" so when the anime gets to kakashis death-we know who them two are lol.
