Good points you made there. Kakashi's character had indeed some depth to it. Well, until a certain point in the manga, I guess. Though I could see how Itachi and kakashi were similar to a certain extent.

It is unfortunate how most of the comments are trollish but don't back-down and keep making these kind of threads.

How is Kakashi an afwul character?Well since you are talking about character developmemt I would like to compare the two chars as well in terms of development.

Itachi

> He was a prodigy who's thinking was on the level of the Hokage

> He was able to think rationally in times of great pressure. He knrw he had to protect the peace of the village and at the same time he knew he could protect his brother as well.

> This dual acting makes him a great written character.

> As an Edo, he knew he had to tell Sasuke the truth. Sasuke through the meeting knew his brother's love was real and Itachi acknowledged his own mistakes for trusting Hiruzen with his promise and overestimating Sasuke's decision. His thinking about future consequences is one of the best in the manga.

Kakashi

> Kakashi is an equivalent canidate when it comes to prodigies.

> This kid was mentally fuked. His father died and soon all his teammates disappeared according to his knowledge. Kakashi had to embrace hatred and darkness at a very young age, simply because he was in disbelief at the reality. Like Itachi he could revognize the darkness of the Leaf something Madara predicted early one.

> His intelligence was put to the test when he became a Jounin captain. He said early Part 1 to Sasuke " don't be afraid, I will protect you". Sasuke has a lot to say thanks for, Kakashi taught him Chidori which is one of Sasuke primary moveset now.

> Like Itachi, he also acknowledged his shortcomings especially when coming to Team 7. In the end it was also through his guidance that the team came back together.

If you compare the characters very closely Kakashi was also an imprtant figure in Sasuke's upbringing. He didn't want Sasuke to go through the feelings that he went through as a kid. He made Sasuke double think his resolve something Itachi would do if he was there.

Kakashi was another well written character.

I was talking about how both went about admitting their mistakes, after both of them got revived/reanimated.

Good read, Kakashi's character would've been fine if that DMS cow dung didn't happen, but he's still one of the better ones in this manga, at least.
It looks like a silly powerup but it's meant to be obito and his sharingan helping him protect his new team mates that are the light he saw :p cheer him up his depressed mood was making me ughhh the whole war

Wow comparing Itachi with someone like kakashi who takes pride in his abilities and looked down at guy and most shinobies unlike itachi who is naturally humble to those that are even clearly inferior to him skillwise. The kakashi who is today is because of obito and his dad(partially). while itachi who is naturally a kind and most gifted shinobi remained true and sticked to the end which is right. Yeah he admitted his failure to naruto only to make his point legit to naruto that comrades and team work is the true essence to victory and alone you are always bound to fail. The truth is he was never was a failure and always had a back up plan for sasuke and the village but are continuously foiled by obito and others and yes truly was able to see in to naruto's resolve while most shinobies thought naruto's resolve was dumb and foolish. at the start and so entrusted his brother and even shisui's eye.

Few pointers before I dive into the topic:
1.) This is not a Kakashi vs Itachi thread.
2.) It is not a comparison thread(well, to a certain degree but not slandering one character to make another appear great).
3.) If you want to comment the overused and repetitive NB posts like "x solos, y solos" do it somewhere else.

Without another further due let's go! :pshino:
The similarity I found between the two of them got me thinking more about Kakashi's character during a certain point of time(before war arc). Before I make this point about Kakashi, let's look at Itachi first so things would be more clearer later on.

When Itachi was brought back Edo Tensai, a few things happened in order for his character to be complete. The main focal point was he admitted to his faults and not approaching the problem(s) a different way in order for everyone(including the Uchiha) to be happy and stable. Itachi did everything he could after his death to nullify his mistakes he made when he was alive and stopped trying to control his brother's actions. Some things were out of hand of Itachi, which is understandable to why some of his decisions seemed bizarre or wrong.

Kakashi was revived back after the Pain arc, he admitted in the Kage Summit arc that because of his lack of input as a sensei it drove team 7 apart and all of them were suffering because of his neglect. Like Itachi, not all of it was Kakashi's fault since Sasuke and Naruto already had unstable backgrounds, Sakura a typical teenage girl that had an obsession with another member, which he couldn't relate to(in terms of being a girl and worrying about girl stuff). Despite, some of his massive holes as a character he again addressed his mistakes as a mentor in the war arc and even when Sasuke decided to go against his team Kakashi still rooted in Sakura's favour on how much she cared about him.

Initially, I was not sure if he his character was complete like Itachi's but I do believe that some of these points kind of balanced out his plothole actions(PS, Kamui spamming, Raikiri spamming and at the end of part 1 Naruto Kakashi still did not know what kind of person Sasuke was in order for him to approach this issue in a sensible way). So that is my take on Kakashi as an overall character, he is not as awful as some claim him to be, but yes like most characters there are room for improvements.
I agree mostly. Thanks for putting this together. :whip:

I don't know what to make of the convo in your sig though... xD eh, call me as you wish. :3

I think the similarities between them is something most people take for granted, so nice eye there....I just wish kishi turned itachi vs kakashi into a thing. I don't think the power gap is as great as it was portrayed in part one and it would have been a heck of a fight
