His Haki could be 100% on point and still be stabbed.. depending on how his Haki was, he could've known very well where Squardo was, but since he had faith in his "son" he could think that Squardo would never betray him..

He said before he refuses to let people view him as weak and old and dying, and here, he abandons that and is being honest with his crew because it's their last moment. He even tells Ace that he has no use for emotional words, and still asked about Ace's emotions towards him. Whitebeard was dropping his tough guy guard to have a final heart to heart with his crew, so it's illogical to think that he's gonna up a front to make it seem like Squard's stab didn't hurt.

If Squard's stab actually hurt him, all he'd have to do is just not mention Squard's stab at all.

And none of those reasons are valid. The only reason is that he puts up a front that he hasn't become weaker because he doesn't want his enemies to look down on him. That reason is no longer valid because:

1. Several people noted WB was sick and old before then, meaning there was no reason for him to keep up that charade since it was already known to his enemies

2. He admitted to himself and to others that he was old, sick, and dying. So he no longer had any reason to hide that he had weakened with age because he knew he was going to die, and die honorably with his legacy intact.

3. He was having a heart to heart with his crew. The final heart to heart he'd ever have. And the crew was already aware of his sickness, so he'd have no reason to put up a charade for them. We see him dropping an aspect of his tough guy persona when he tells Ace that he has no use for emotional words, and then asked him an emotional question anyways. Whitebeard didn't care about being tough, he cared about having a heart to heart with his crew.

There are far more context clues towards it being genuine than the one, faulty one of your imagination that he was fronting.
