Great thread! Very interesting, I like this kind of thing, about how the story ties in with history, it can help you understand the lessons behind the story and even where the story may be heading.
I remember having a discussion not so long ago about
The Madara Rider - a World Heritage Site carving in Bulgaria and how that may relate to the story. I thought it was a clever idea using the horses' name, as the horse (which is named Madara) is often used to depict mindless power "horse-power" etc. and even the Japanese word for a car "kuruma" has "uma" or "horse" for power in the word, and the carving is 100m on a vertical cliff so clearly it could only have been carved by ninjas. haha ;-)
Here in the manga though bought the surprise that the Uchiha's are about love and not power as I'd thought, which made me sympathise with them a lot more. Obito reminds me of crushed love, and Naruto shines and connects like burning love.
Another interesting thing I heard in Japanese history is the story about the
Jubokko tree which may have helped inspire the story of the 10 tails tree. It is a vampire-demon tree that appears around battlefields and feeds on the blood of the fallen.. Very creepy..
This is the reference scene about the Uchihas being "love".
