He got caught cus protecting sasuke slowed him down....itachi did not fight bruh he was in defense the whole time...im sure if itachi wanted kabuto killed otachi would be attacking not just sitting there

Wrong, Sasuke being there saved Itachi from losing, Itachi said himself that he protected Sasuke because he knew that's where Kabuto would go after and the sound jutsu took down Susanoo but Itachi was able to make an arm with all the strength he could muster even with the sound. IT no Sasuke then Kabuto could attack Itachi from any direction. Also Itachi Needed Sasuke to break out of Kabuto's sound genjutsu. Kabuto could have started the fight out with this Genjutsu after going SM. So no Sasuke equal Itachi being taken control of.
Kabuto only needed to do this, Sound jutsu to take down Susanoo (

), Then this jutsu to control nonliving things to impale Itachi who couldn't even see due to the light (

).As you can see, Kabuto have the jutsu and power to beat Itachi if Itachi was alone.

The fact that Kabuto kept reminding Itachi that he couldn't kill him because of the edo tensei says he was afraid.

No it doesn't...? That's just one interpretation but as you can clearly see his tone in todays anime and his expression throughout both, he's constantly grinning and is doing it to psyche out them both.
One day your eyes will open up so you can see things through the eyes of The Solo King. Until then I will never give up. I break no rules and I have now gotten plenty of people to believe in Itachi since he is the true solo king. Don't deny it. Don't you find it strange that Itachi is the most persecuted Ninja in the series.

Both saved each other lives. When Itachi was down due to unnecessarily saving Sasuke who Kabuto wasn't going to kill, Sasuke put up a wall of black flames to shield them both, preventing Kabuto from implanting the tag into Itachi.
or another interpretation; Kabuto was taunting Itachi. Basically, "you can't kill me, but since you're an ET, I can attack you at full power to implant this tag into and regain control." Kabuto thought he could defeat Itachi and put the tag back in. Thereby, gaining control of the situation again.
If he was afraid, why not just leave the cave a couple hours earlier.

Honestly, I disagree with that smiling face, there are clear moments later on in the fight where he's not smiling but he feels in control for the majority of the fight.
Plus Kabuto is a complex character, remember this IS the guy who hid himself in an impossible to find cave away from the action, Kabuto is primarily like his master- a SURVIVOR. He's probably the most cautious and wary person in this manga because he's a sly snake and to smartly pick another battle, that's different from being scared.
Also remember that Kishi has an audience he needs to speak to, Kabuto smugly saying this line creates tension and tells the audience what they need to hear about Kabuto to make this fight seem more balanced.
