If we're playing the blame game then couldn't we also blame Orochimaru for showing Kabuto the reanimation jutsu? Or blame the Second Hokage for inventing the jutsu in the first place!

And how ironic that now Kabuto is about to come back and help Sasuke out

Madara said himself that he got hashi's face thanks to kabuto, doesn't change the fact that he had senju dna earlier.
I think the only think that he got thanks to kabuto is the moktoun.

If I'm not mistaken you can only awaken the rinnegan when Senju and Uchiha cells meet. He did take cells from Hashirama and end up awakening the rinnegan and making a zetsu army before he died. However, he did not have the capability of performing mokuton and the sage mode(which he obtained from hashirama). I think what Kabuto might have done, is used a zetsu clone as the base body for Madara. We all know Zetsu clones are purely Senju bodies and have mokuton capabilities. This could explain how Madara is able to tap into that ability.

Indeed we can, the ultimate blame lies with the Second for making such a heinous jutsu in the first place. But at least Kabuto is trying to right his wrongs haha.
