While Nagato was fighting Bee and Naruto he (Kabuto) wanted to kill them because he's got a way to resurrect them without Madara noticing something.
In this chapter we saw him talking like he wants to seal their chakra for the Gedo Mazo (like Akatsuki: beating the Jinchuuriki half-dead, retrieve and seal them).
Could it be that Madara or Itachi were able to control Kabuto with their ocular powers? If yes, I tend to Madara because Itachi would have stopped the Edo Tensei if he controlled Kabuto.

i want to agree with out, i never thought of kabuto been controlled until this threat and your post

BUT he says

why would he start with his own name,

so its like reading the following...

then it is settled,

there is no point in showing madara and kabutos "show of force"
when 1, it was done in private, so it wasent a show, or a play
2, there was no need, for madara to know how impure world is, if he controlled kabuto, he could have maked kabuto do it without knowing how,


but most of all there is no reason for a backup plan

itachi?, hmm nop, why risk the life of naruto "mistakes happen"
and there will be no point in going out charater like breaking the spell

because if he wantet to fool madara he would have been in charater someway, and escaped to let madara think that kabuto was controlling him
