Did Boruto have some strange anomaly in his right eye? Yes he did.
Did Boruto use some strange ability in fight against Surime and he could see chakra pathway with it? Yes he did.
In conclusion, Boruto has dōjutsu which according to animators is named Jōgan.

And Boruto storyline is canon by itself, which is simply based on previous Naruto's canon. If author wants, he can change everything for his own taste.

Rinnegan is the ultimate eye - which you cant acquire unless you got the power ups you need. Boruto got jougan from the beginning
