I simply use my chakra to create a cylindrical wall of fire that encircles me and defend me.
Question:
-the fire, would it rise from the ground short range of you or you expell them from your body?
-The column, can it entend and reach the sky?

You can decide yourself where you start to shape it. Either from the ground and up, or from above you till your toes or right int the middle and so upwards and downwards. And nope, it can't reach the sky. Twenty meters above you is the maximum.
