I would like to suggest that on vadar you should have used a smudged cloud effect for the bg using dark colors with some small stars with maybe a field effect so he looked cool and it brought in more attention to vadar. Your using your effects to cover your focal if your going to gradient overlay make a copy of that layer and use the gradient overly on that layer and set it to soft light.
