Was Jiraiya's death ABSOLUTELY necessary? Jiraiya is one of my favorite characters, and I couldn't believe I was no longer going to see him :( I remember Tsunade trying to convince him to not set out to the Village of the Rain because although the information was necessary, the trip was a huge risk. I was relieved because I thought he had taken down Pain, and then BAM! One Pain was resurrected and took down one of my favorite Sensei, along with Iruka, Kakashi, and Minato.

I look forward to hearing your opinions. Mine is that he should've stayed put, simply because I loved his character and didn't want him out of the series.
I hope Kishi will make a gaiden out of Jiraiya's childhood. *thumbs crossed* :pwease:

I miss him, but Jiraiya's death was necessary. It was a motivator for Naruto, and it created good dramatic tension between him and Nagato.

Not necessarily owned, but caught off guard. :/ Shinobi's are taught never to drop their guard tsk tsk tsk, but I'll let it slide for the Toad Sage

well to be honest, Jiraiya was the real hero who saved konoha from Pein. The moment he chose to sacrifice himself for that information, the rest of the outcome became written. It was just like the great toad sage predicted. Jiraiya saved konoha that time at the expense of his own life.

^Yeah, I had to accept it back then, and I have to accept it now that he is gone :( I just know he would've OWNED in the war
*Probably would've been distracted by all the hottie shinobis, but he'd get the job done xd*
However, he indeed died a true hero :T_T: :D

If Jiraiya didn't die than Naruto wouldn't "know pain" (or wouldn't be able to talk-no-jutsu everyone back to life)

^It's crazy because imagine how many would be dead? Kakashi :( just no, that would've hurt me almost as much as Jiraiya's death :T_T:

I totally agree with you, Naruto would be so much better if he was still alive

Umh.. your wrong.

1. Jiraiya got all info on Pein
2. If Jiraiya didn't die, Naruto would not have learned Sage Mode at the time.
3. Naruto would not have felt the loss of his sensei and not stepped up to become strong enough to defeat pein.

Ergo, Jiraiya's death was necessary.... :(

PS: Jiraiya was/is my favorite character and besides all these reasons I wanted him to stay alive...

1. He could of survived and still have them the info
2. Naruto could of still learned sage mode with jiraya there
3. Pain caused a lot of destruction to the leaf, it's not like he only killed pain because he's avenging jirayas death.

Don't try saying I'm wrong when that's my opinion.
