Location: Sannin showdown
Intel: Manga (so pretty much almost full intel for Jiraiya and nothing for Tobirama)
Conditions: Tobirama is alive

Scenario 1: Jiraiya starts in base, Edo Tensei restricted
Scenario 2: Jiraiya starts in SM, no restrictions (Tobi gets 2 fodder edos)

Tobirama takes scenario 1.

Jman takes scenario 2.

If Tobirama tries to attack with FTG, Jman will sense similar to how SM Madara sensed his approach.

Madara>Jiraiya in every single way when it comes to physical ability. Not to mention Jiraiya can't sense, nor does he have Perfect Sage Mode.

Sage mode gives people the ability to sense. Ex: Naruto: [to Tsunade] "Now that I have Sage mode, I can sense the chakra of everyone from the village...is Kakashi sensei away on a mission?"

Even if he didn't necessarily dodge, his hair spike jutsu (forgot its name) would shield him from Tobirama. Similar to how Sasuke enton cloaked Susano'o to defend against Ay's speed.

Also (I'd rather not use filler scenes, but sadly Kishi had to freaking skip Jman vs 6 pains to hide what pain could do), he could drag Tobirama in to his barrier (, which if Pain couldn't even sense...I doubt Tobirama is sensing.

Jman's versatility + counter gives him the edge here, Tobirama is too much of a 1 trick pony with FTG.

That's a Perfect Sage you are using as an example. Jiraiya never displayed sensing, ever. Especially not when Asura Pain snuck up on him.

1. If Tobirama attacks him via Hiraishingiri, he won't have time to react.

2. If Tobirama uses Gojo, his hair won't save him.

Also (I'd rather not use filler scenes, but sadly Kishi had to freaking skip Jman vs 6 pains to hide what pain could do), he could drag Tobirama in to his barrier, which if Pain couldn't even sense...I doubt Tobirama is sensing.
Pain isn't a sensor, nor can he teleport. Nagato is a sensor. Anyway, Tobirama senses and ports away.

Well, that one trick as you dub it, allows him to do more than just one thing, and its enough to handle Jiraiya.

Well, that's not true. He has his sensing barrier and Frog Kata reflexes. Plus Ma and Pa are perfect sages and they are attached to his shoulders and his chakra flow. I'm tired of people talking about this "imperfect sage" shit, just because Jiraiya's way of using SM is different doesn't mean it's inferior.

I do agree though that Jiraiya can't react to a FTG teleportation at close range. That's too much for him.

His sensing barrier isn't apart of his Sage Mode, which is what I was referring to. And Frog Kata is for Perfect Sages, not his imperfect Sages. Go get me a scan of Jiraiya using Frog Kata.

Lol, the manga has made a clear distinction between a Perfect Sage and an Imperfect Sage. The manga has also made it painfully clear that the former is superior to the latter. So if you have an issue, take it up with Kishimoto.

I am a huge Jiraiya fan but I think Tobirama's speed would give him the leg up in either scenario.

Tobirama shits on both scenario.

Jiraiya with SM doesn't have sensing abilities, since Asura path got him from behind. His barrier is used to detect invisible creatures, not for combat sensing. The summoning are irrelevant, as Gojo can be spammed using FTG on toads to obliterate them. It comes down to Tobirama combining his FTG and kunai slashing Jiraiya.

In what ways exactly is a Perfect Sage superior to an imperfect one? The only difference I'm aware of is that imperfect Sages cannot perfectly balance their nature energy, resulting in some froglike physical characteristics. And here's Jiraiya using Frog Kata: - You're also forgetting that Fukusaku and Shima can sense, and they are attached to Jiraiya's shoulders.

If Jiraya's sage mode was the same level as a perfect sage then that kick should've killed that Pain meg diff, instead all it did was blind him. Narutos indirect punch killed preta path alone.

Plus jiraya got snuck up on and lost an arm because he couldn't sense the other paths of pain.

I'm not saying Jiraiya has sensing on Naruto or Kabuto's level, it just really bothers me when people say he has no sensing abilities at all, when that's obviously not the case. And Frog Kata doesn't necessarily kill the opponent, Naruto landed a solid kick on Tendo and it didn't do much. Furthermore, Naruto's punch didn't kill Preta, it got turned into a petrified frog.
